I am good generaly at other shooting games, but i have always been terrible, i've had it for around a year but i've haven't got much better. I use 2000 dpi and 4 sensitivity, i have a 7.1 surround sound, and run at around 150-200 fps. Are there any tips i could have about my settings or in game tips? thanks

is not your settings in game , if your mouse works good and you are confortable with the sensitivity don't ever change them .. because it would be like starting from zero , Work on your AIM don't be afraid to take a shot .. Try to make crazy shots and plays brings up your pump level .

Listen for footsteps, don't spray (unless your near them), aim for the right arm because the hit boxes are off a bit.

Just most importantly, be patient. You'll get the hang of it easily, but rushing forward every time isn't going to work. Surprising opponents at the other end of the hall doesn't either. Wait for them to come to you. Patience is very important.

3 shot bursts. Only spray with the m4 at very short range. after 5 or 6 bullets, pull your crosshair down.

aiming for right arm isnt a good idea.. aim for head even if hitboxs are a little off

Well. It depends with the weapon you have. Don't change sensitivity. Like someone said, it would be like going half way up a mountain, and then going back down to go up again. So if you tell us what guns you want advice on, I could help more.

i always try my best to listen for footsteps, and in turn walk a lot so i dont make them. its much easier to kill when you have the element of suprise.

Also make sure you check frequent camp spots, and pre-firing can be very effective in them

Seems like a no brainer but http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=83132 has extremely useful stuff. Junk's guide is my favourite. Although it is all strategy, CS:S has more strategy than most give it credit for.

Also, I used to suck so much at CS:S but I found High School server improved my skills the fastest. Its got a large array of distances between opponents, choke points, hiding spots. I believe it greatly improves your all round ability, people there also are Generally more skilled (shown by higher points not discriminating :P) and that helps you improve faster.

Office also helped me improve a lot, it has a large variety of skilled players at any given time, but i think this also helps because then you have a chance to not get demolished by good players all the time ;D

Only knife if you are close and behind them. Don't pull it out and follow because they might turn around And then BAM your dead

Just practice and practice :) in the start i was terrible but now i am okay :) since i only play css sometimes cause i play dods :P

Just be patient and you will getting good in the end :)

I started playing on gungame maps. fast action, all the guns (except scout sometimes) and fun. Otherwise, yeah, read all above comments. Aim, walk, etc but I think most important is learning the map (hiding spots and such) and playing SMART. like if someone flashes turn around and then WAIT for him to pop out. things like that you know?

cl_crosshairscale 3000 in console

Makes your crosshairs very tiny. Help my aim out a bit.

Also CSS is like golf, you can play for 5 years and never get any better.
