The first few month I played Insurgency, I really cared about my stats, had them linked in my sig and bookmarked in Firefox.
I was up to 2,100 points and ranked in the top 100. In consequence, as already mentioned before, I was loosing points too lower ranked players big time, sometimes even a KDR of 10 wouldn't help ...
It took me some time to notice I was getting unhappy about this more and more often, thus not having real fun while playing.
After realizing this, it was just a small step for me to decide "Dude, forget 'bout stats. Go out and have fun. After all it's a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Right?"
I made this decision about a week ago. Since then I'm having way more fun on the servers (and lost about 1k points

).
I actually played on dust, knowing I'd loose points there. Big time. And I actually enjoyed it!
It's just a good feeling to put shotgun shells into =(e)= Gunney (for those not knowing: He's a Dust veteran/pro/master/whatever).
I said I don't care about stats any more. Well, that's not completely true. I do care about the ingame scoreboard (=morale). It doesn't only account for kills (or KDR), but also for capping and defending points. Did you know INS awards you more morale for a kill, if you kill someone in a capzone? And that you get a big amount of morale for capping?
90% of the time I find myself in the TOP 3 on the scoreboard. For me, that is way more rewarding than hlxstats ever was.
The most rewarding aspect however is to see 'real' teamplay (which just can't be measured) working out and leading your team to victory.
Oh, and since I've dropped in the rankings, PDS rages way more when he gets killed by me. Almost as good a reward
Well, this is how I roll. This might work for others as well, therefore I thought I'd let you know.
TL;DR: Go and have fun!
Don't you ever stop rockin'!
