Im playing a lot DUST2 24/7 Insurgency and i love the server but the ranking is so messed up:

Im like 2k points and everyone who kills me get 15 to 20 points, not fair, and when i kill them i earn 2 or 3 points each one, it takes me 10 people to earn my losted points, so please edit the point rank, Thank you
 
we know, and we cant do anything, its beacause lots of new people play there and lots of people there tk quite a bit so lots of low point ranked people play and when high point ranked people play they lose loads of points. everyones had that happen.
 
xD I went from position 1xx to 7xx in less than two hours of both screwing around and getting killed by some noobs that get 25+ points per kill. I'd have been better off tk'ing for those two hours... Anyways, time to get that back in a while, can't go around at these ranks anymore >.>
 
Maybe I'm the rare exception but who cares? I don't even know my rank, and it doesn't matter. Do you tell people "hey im rank X in insurgency?"

In fact I would contend that Dust is the only server where rank matters. The ranking is just kills anyway, and dust is basically a deathmatch server.

Otherwise I care more about how many times you may have sacrificed yourself so your team could cap or defend a point.

That used to be my opinion PSP, but it has recently changed. The pubbing players, as a whole, are so bad on the servers (actually, in all of remaining INS) that it simply isn't fun nor rewarding to continue teamplaying- if you make a diversion, it won't be used; if you stay behind during a rout your team mates won't return even after they respawn to bail you out of your position (case and point on Karbala- grabbing cover and stopping the US advance towards C on the c-b road after the pushing INS/camping INS got wtfbbqexploded by hunkering down behind the van or so and thus stopping the US advance won't net you anything but maybe a few kills and an early grave.); ninja-capping points;protecting points- all of it goes to waste when you play with some of these people.

^that + random ins-fails (where people survive 15+ ak rounds, or an rpg, et.al.), both when happening to you and to your enemy = no point left teamplaying. Better off just having fun lonewolfing around, playing for kills (and, indirectly, rank) over points. Ofcourse, that doesn't stop me from at least trying to clear a cap point under contest, or staying around to cap something with a teammate, et.al., but I sure won't be bothered to actually go out of my way for achieving those unless someone else on the team is.

Points = morale in the above, fyi to anyone confused.
 
Rank doesn't matter. It's how many kills you get and how much fun you have that does

I can understand that to a point. Although I still find teamplay to be alive and well much of the time on the non-dust servers. Maybe it is the time of day that I play.

And it isn't that I dont enjoy my stats sometimes. I enjoy seeing myself at the top of the leaderboard in game for that round. But my overall rank amongst all players is essentially meaningless, so I don't care.
 
The way I look at RANK/POINTS is "each to their own" Some worry about points while others dont give a rats @#$ about points :)

So remember what I said and that everyone is different and care about differnt things in gaming.

So maybe there is a way to sort out points so you dont lose some much to a noob, hopefully for those peeps who care get that sorted out for them but maybe there isn't and you just have to take it on the CHIN

I am not saying anyone is saying anything bad here just please remember to respect everyone's opinions and happy GAMING

If your team isn't using teamwork try pushing it on them. Call out positions of enemies or encourage some of the pubs to communicate, sometimes all they need is a leader.

Again I understand. But my feeling the servers are setup the way they are setup. If a person cares so much about points, they probably shouldn't play in the dust server. But dont play there and enjoy it, and then complain about losing points to noobs.

It's like going into the desert then complaining it's too hot and dry.

EXACTLY. Look man, you're gonna find out sooner or later that all this rank business is just a number to boast upon and really its completely meaningless. Games are about fun not freaking out over a low rank. Your team wont work together? Then show them up by doing everything your self. I stopped caring about rank a month after i joined eGO. Just try to have fun with it man.
 
Hlxstats is a dynamic stat tracking system. Dynamic meaning that high ranked players will earn less points by killing lower ranked players. Similarly high ranked players will lose more points from being killed by lower ranked players. Because, as IHK mentioned a lot of low ranked players play on Dust2, one will likely lose rank while playing on that server.

Further, we have no control over hlxstats besides removing it which has been previously discussed in ART, and it was decided by USCGHammer that hlxstats will not be removed from the server.
 
The first few month I played Insurgency, I really cared about my stats, had them linked in my sig and bookmarked in Firefox.
I was up to 2,100 points and ranked in the top 100. In consequence, as already mentioned before, I was loosing points too lower ranked players big time, sometimes even a KDR of 10 wouldn't help ...

It took me some time to notice I was getting unhappy about this more and more often, thus not having real fun while playing.
After realizing this, it was just a small step for me to decide "Dude, forget 'bout stats. Go out and have fun. After all it's a game, and games are supposed to be fun. Right?"

I made this decision about a week ago. Since then I'm having way more fun on the servers (and lost about 1k points :)).
I actually played on dust, knowing I'd loose points there. Big time. And I actually enjoyed it!
It's just a good feeling to put shotgun shells into =(e)= Gunney (for those not knowing: He's a Dust veteran/pro/master/whatever).

I said I don't care about stats any more. Well, that's not completely true. I do care about the ingame scoreboard (=morale). It doesn't only account for kills (or KDR), but also for capping and defending points. Did you know INS awards you more morale for a kill, if you kill someone in a capzone? And that you get a big amount of morale for capping?

90% of the time I find myself in the TOP 3 on the scoreboard. For me, that is way more rewarding than hlxstats ever was.
The most rewarding aspect however is to see 'real' teamplay (which just can't be measured) working out and leading your team to victory.
Oh, and since I've dropped in the rankings, PDS rages way more when he gets killed by me. Almost as good a reward ;)

Well, this is how I roll. This might work for others as well, therefore I thought I'd let you know.

TL;DR: Go and have fun!

Sure competiton is fun but dont play to be number #1 play to have fun because if you play to be #1 the game will feel more like a job then anything else trust me i use to be in love with stats too most of us have been
 
I love following stats and points and I think a fair point system would make the game more fun.
 
I would be extremely disappointed if we got rid of hlxstats because i know that helps our activity a large amount. The stats have nothing to do with how good a player is and i've realized this so like has been said before. Just go out and have fun man that's what its all about.
 
I never go on dust expecting teamplay it is so crowded as well. Its mw2 game play (run n gun) in a css map in INS. Its not like you get a reward for getting #1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 etc. I think this map was put here for some people to get away from the IDEA of the mod, team play and realism.

Its a good CQC skills sharpener ;). I agree other than that.
