Some good help for new players

I've noticed a huge surge in our recruiting, which is awesome. The Mac update, paired with the free weekend/half price have brought in a lot of new players.

However, my biggest complaint about TF2 has always been the painfully steep learning curve. This is just a hard game to get started in. Learning all the classes, balance, etc. You die. A lot.

But! There's hope! This is not a new thing, but those that know it love it, and those that don't know it, will. A training map, called tr_walkway. I'll let the video explain it.

With their latest update, there's even more than that now. This map is absolutely amazing. You can practice nearly anything. Even after my first day using it, back when it came out, I could tell I was getting better.

The download is a zip that contains the map and installing instructions, for those who haven't messed with such things before. Enjoy!

This map is great; even if you consider yourself 'good', I'd still use it. You can practice almost anything with it.

Its amazing for practice, or for idling and goofing off. Sometimes I just spawn a bunch of Scouts and see how long it takes to kill them all point plank with a minigun, or blow them all up with stickies. I've found you also get items (crafted my Troublemaker's Tossle there :) ). Otherwise, the launch ramp is great for airshots, the ramp is good for stairstabs, the balconies are good for huge drop stabs, the changing of bot movement is good for headshots, and make bots attack button is good for dying, its got everything.

Ok, its good for most things, you CAN practice sniper on it, but I highly discourage that. The way the map was built means the hitboxes are off (especially so for the head hitbox), it say so in the documentation.

Yeah. They have a sniper training setting, that only uses the classes that have standing hitboxes similar to those of their running hitboxes.

You should have a file to deal with Zips and .rar, if not, Download "WinRar"

Then just double-Click the Zip, it should unzip into a .Something File (.Bvs I think, not sure though) then just go into YourMACName>Library>Something Applications>Steam>[YOURNAME]>TeamFortress>TF>Map

I think thats how you find it, there should be a tut on when you download it. Probably a ReadMe in the Zip.

You can also practice Ramp stabs(just like stair stabs) and different types of drop stabs from different heights as spy ;).
