Hey guys, this is fathobo and I'm from the insurgency division!

I'm here today to let you guys know that the insurgency division is also trying out a new mod and we are hoping to also add it to the list of mods eGO will support or maybe incorporate it into eGO by doing an Insurgency/Resistance and Liberation division.

Now to the point:

The game Resistance and Liberation is a mod based in World War II just like the Day of Defeat Source division is, except I think they tried to bring a little more realistic flow to the game and or a little more team work.

So I was hoping that maybe you experienced DOD:S players would like to try out a new WWII game and give your suggestions or just help us out.

Here are compare and contrasts:

Pros:
Realistic in a sense you can only talk to people when you are close to them
You have a squad you can work with.
Maps are actually decent and are good for firefights

Cons:
Slow game play at times
Not a lot of people playing the mod right now
No uber graphics
Some bugs and the game play mighnot be as smooth as some of you would like.

Now, I know I posted a lot of cons, but remember it is in Beta still so don't expect a great game. I think if the DOD:S division comes and helps some of us Insurgency/RnL players who are starting this up with some suggestions it would be very helpful. And also adding suggestions to the production team because they are very active. They have had 5 updates in the past month, so expect the game to get better.

We as in eGO, should take pride in trying out new mods that are around our type of games like a new WWII game or a game like INS and help these new developers as much as we can with suggestions, bug fixes, and maybe miscellaneous things because our gaming community is so big, versatile, and has so many experienced players that are up to that kind of challenge.

THANKS FOR READING, HERE IS THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD BECAUSE IT IS NOT OFFERED ON STEAM YET, *DO NOT ALSO ADD THE SHORTCUT WHEN INSTALLING, SHORTCUT DOES NOT WORK, AND MAKE SURE YOU RESTART STEAM BEFORE YOU PLAY**

If you have any questions stop by the Insurgency channels and ask for some help!!

Sincerely,

from the vid's that ive seen, the only weapons were rifles... is this the case? if not i might give it a shot

There is the carbine, Garand, and Thompson. I'm not sure about the other weapons because those are the only ones I have played so far.

I'll give it a try with ya Rizz, hope on vent and we shall discuss what we observe :)

Tried it tonight, seems like it can have potential. I just need to get used to the controls.

i will for sure give it a try. im not too down with insurgency myself. i played it a few times and i wasnt a big fan. i am all about helping my fellow eGO members and divisions out though. plus who knows, i may take a liking to it.

though i think you ins boys will have an advantage over us DoD'ers if its an ins mod...i know you will in my case haha!

Hey guys, whoever is interested, join up in the Boot Camp today at 1pm est. I'll be there representing the DOD:S division, but would love some more of us to show!

Hello DoD:S!

First, feel free to contact me about anything Resistance and Liberation related. I'm responsible for spearheading the eGO involvement in this mod. I will highly value any input (but please remain constructive ;)) as you lot are our oldest division. So any help raising this baby would be appreciated.

Also, I would like to tack a few things onto what Fathobo has mentioned. The mod is currently running on orange box. However, with DoD:S installed, you should be able to install and run the mod just fine. Further, the mod has been in Beta as of May 15th. So this is still a very new game, as such, there are a few bugs. This is why I am interested in your help. The developers would like us at eGO to help beta test the game, not only for bugs, but to suggest further game-play advancements. The developers have the game in open-client, restricted-server beta. We are one of a handful of servers selected to run a beta server. We are currently the #1 US server and the #2 server world-wide. The developers and other clans have received us very well, so we are currently setting up friendly scrims with other clans. The development team highly values our input, and appreciates our presence in the mod.

Finally, it's simply a fun game. Although, I must warn you that it is one of the more difficult FPS games. I would say that it is more difficult than INS but less than Red Orchestra. The game mechanics emphasize team-play. As fathobo mentioned, the voice chat is proximity-based. So you must be within a dozen-or-so meters in order to voice chat with your team. Consequently, the opposing team can hear you if they are close enough as well. It really adds a lot of depth, confusion and fun to the game. Other mechanics include inhibited performance based on damage received. (Although, usually most hits are 1-shot-1-kill.) For example, if you fall and break your leg, not only can your character pass out from the pain, but he will limp around on the battle field. Also, if you are shot in the arm/hand you may drop your weapon, and will be forced to run back and recover it! As one could imagine, this creates a lot of chaos, and rewards those who work together.

P.S.

Having a hard time with the game? Come to RnL Boot Camp run by !Epic Fail! and myself. We go over real-world tactics that have translated well to the game. Times and further information can be gathered in this thread.

I have played it and yes there is some work that needs to be done w/ it (hence, its in beta) but yes it can be fun at most times, but then it has its slow moments. Especially when I start running the wrong way...

Yeah, the game play is very slow for a source-based game. But that is to promote teamwork. Some of the largest maps I've ever seen also. (except Empires Mod.) So running the wrong way is ill-advised. =p
