well since my computer died my dad is letting me get a new computer. he's got $600 he can spend and i got like $150 so that $750 total. i was looking at this [link=http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8587772&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1190677437770#productdetail]Laptop[/link] and was wondering if it is good enough to play dod:s and WoW. the other option for the laptop is: [link=http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8534044&productCategoryId=abcat0502003&type=product&tab=2&id=1186008220129#productdetail]or this laptop[/link]

I don't claim to be an expert, but both these machines appear to have integrated graphics, which would lead me to believe that neither of them will run any intensive 3D game or application particularly well. That's been my experience anyway... perhaps these newer ones might be sufficient...

If you are on a limited budget like that why are you looking at laptops instea do ddesktops. You're basically going to spend an extra $150 for the smaller form faster to get a computer which are hardly upgradable at all. Otherwise you could put the extra 150 into buying a nicer graphics card and in the future have to ability to make changes to your system one piece at a time.

Yea i would go with what greenmonkey was saying. Desktops are so much cheaper and are upgradeable.

alright dekstop it is. probably gonna be same as my bros

AMD Athlon X2 64 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.29GHz
1gb RAM
Inergrate Radeon x1250

but id probably buy a new video card and another 1gb of ram

I was looking at [link=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229]this video card[/link] and wondering if it was worth it. and any 1gb ram because i can get them cheap at the local computer store

Here is what I think - the card will be good, I think you got the right card. If you are going to be using windows XP then 1 GB will be ok for a while but if you will be using vista 2 GB is necessary.

If you can, I might try to push up the processor to say a 5200+ is possible, but if you were to do nothing then that system would run good too its all win win.
