dont worry about the temps too much on the 400 series fermi cards, nvidia designed the fermi chipset to run hot, so as long as you arent seeing temps going over 100 celcius you shouldnt be alarmed

Got my new GTX460 straight from EVGA today, new in plastic... Same exact problem the first one had, so it is not a hardware issue. After Buying the card, buying a new power supply, paying shipping for the RMA 10 miles away, there has been no improvement. I was able to play a mission of single player that ran very smoothly, and looked great, but multiplayer is still messing up, big time. Prototype is also messing up. I am gonna call them tomorrow, and complain until I get the CEO on the phone, or get this working. No gaming till this is resolved, tired of swapping cards.
 
bummer man.... you downloaded the drivers from Nvidia. they recently updated them you know.
 
Nope, now the 3rd and 4th technicians I spoke with, including the Sr. Tech at EVGA says that my motherboard chipset is too old to work with the card. Wish that information was made public before I shelled out the $$$$ for this.

I now have up for sale, a brand new GTX460, installed 1 time, used for less than 3 hours, straight from EVGA themselves. I can include 2 product packages, 2 serial numbers, and 2 sets of accessories with 1 GTX460 GPU card. I would like to get what I paid for it, and ship it to whom ever for free, save you a few dollars for shipping and tax. Cub4n, u should consider SLi!!!
It is the GTX460 Superclocked 768mb GDDR5 for use with PIC-E 2.0 slots.
 
Something like that. box for the GTX460 says and I quote "PCI-Express OR PCI-Express 2.0 compatible" So EVGA can shuv it.
 
Maybe EVGA isn't totally useless. The supervisor talked to his higher ups, and had them authorize a return straight to them. Just waiting on the RMA email at this time. Money back YAY!
 
nice dude... good to hear... too bad you still got the PSU though... i would spend some time saving up some money and slowly upgrade your computer

start off with a new mobo. only problem is if you want to keep your cpu your going to be limited on what cpu's you can upgrade to later on. so i suggest save up a bulk of money (~300$) and buy yourself a good quad or 6 core cpu / mobo deal. then just upgrade your ram and then get yourself the new card. by then gtx 460 wont be the newest card on the market and you'll have even better cards out there.
 
My thoughts exactly. I got 2 2gig chips of ram, so i can get 2 more of those, and a newer board and processor, then GPU. It will have to wait till i get some income flowing though.
 
tueshe... but also consider that ddr2 is becoming out of date. and ddr3 is not backwards compatible so you also dont want to limit yourself because you dont want to buy ddr3 ram either... its kind of a bundle deal.. =/.
 
im actually going to be upgrading my pc next summer, and when i do i could sell some parts to ya for cheap, i will be buying an x58, 6 core cpu, gtx 495 (if its out by then ): ), and 6 gigs of DDR3 for the x58, so i will have my evga 790i FTW, my Q6600 (dont make them anymore and they are insanely good for overclocking), possibly my 2xevga gtx 260 core 216's, and 4GB DDR3
 
when you told me on vent about your comp i didnt know you where trying to put that 460 in a windows 98 computer LAWL..... jp jp
 
You should settle for a nice AMD build. The performance is amazing for the cheap price tag. You could still use a Phenom II with DDR2, or DDR3. AM2 boards are surprisingly cheap now.
