Starcraft 2 is near! Don't abandon TF2!

No worries here, I l have no interest in SC2. Hopefully it will sucker in all those engineer n00bs and make the servers enjoyable again.

Most people say it looks boring, but if you've actually been playing the beta, it's a great game; one of the best parts is that they're actually listening to the community with changes.

You can count one less engineer n00b on the servers. :P

I have pre-ordered the game and got a day off. I cannot wait for the game to be released. Well, I lied about the day off part, but I maybe sick on that day... Maybe.

Change the outcome of WWII so that the Zerg defeat the evil Protoss at Omaha beach.

In my original version, I had it so that you could prevent Lenin from reaching Russia and starting the Bolshevik Revolution. You could also take out Big Bertha, defeat the Red Baron, etc.

Whatever benefits you had also depended on which country you were. For instance, Britain was isolated on an island and was somewhat difficult to deploy troops, but they were the only country who could use tanks (they invented treaded tanks for the war). The Germans could deploy Lenin to Russia to start the Bolshevik Revolution and knock Russia out of the war, which meant Russia had to protect their capital city with great fervor.

Stuff like that.

Yeah.. it's in no way "boring". Every game you play is different, so many possibilities to play. The micro mechanics make the control on the units crazy. This is one of the few games where its 100% skill, if you lost it's all on your head.

Probably the game with the biggest community/competitive scene ever. It's also probably one of the hardest games ever to get good at, it's extremely mentally taxing.

Played like 400 hours of beta already :/

If you get bored, you're probably getting crushed over and over aren't improving by looking up builds, what you should be doing etc.

Once you get over the insane level of difficulty, it's so much fun to play and watch pros play. Also if you get a little tired there is unlimited possibilities with the map editor. People have already recreated whole games in it.

Horaay! A gaming company that actually CARES about what the community thinks! I'm buying SC 2 just for that.

But on a serious note, I will still play TF2 as much as I can because it is much more fun than any RTS game.

Im looking forward to it. I just reinstalled the original SC 2 weeks ago just cause I got that itch to play. I found my old CD key buried in a box. I think I originally bought it in 1999. The disappointing part for me is that there will be 3 different games from what i understand. Online play will have no restrictions, meaning the game you buy on the 27 will contain terran single player only and unrestricted playing for mutiplayer. After that they will release separate single player games for zerg and protoss. SO to fully play the single player aspect you could be looking at $130... maybe more maybe less.

That's fine, nobody's reeeally buying it for the single player, it's all about the multiplayer.

They actually changed that, they are calling the last 2 games expansions now and will be priced as such. They are going to be coming with new units, abilities, and maps for multiplayer as well. At least that's what the updated starcraft 2 faq says.

Are there hats in SC2? No?
Then I shall remain in TF2.

Probably the game with the biggest community/competitive scene ever.

This is very true, and if its anything like age of empires 3 its very competitive and because its very competitive you get a ton of cheaters as well. People who dont want to lose their rank and will do anything to keep from doing so. In age of empires, you have people who drop trick or freeze the game on purpose causing you to lose the game no matter what. Its usually only a hand full of people who do things like this but it ruins the game for those who play for fun. I really hope SC2 has solutions or bans for people who do those things.

Blizzard is very vigilant about this, drophack was squashed back in starcraft 1. Maphack will be banned extremely fast with their warden anticheat system built in. Even if someone managed to get past that, there is a built in report system.

Also, adding on to the biggest competitive scene it is also one of the friendliest scenes. Most of the community is really nice, there is basically unwritten rules for 'good manners'. You don't want to end up being 'bm' or bad manners. The game is really easy to jump into if you interact with the community because of this, and you will get a ton of help.
