After I make a build, when do you plan on getting it?

Unfortunantly, I have fallen rather behind the times on video cards and multimedia devices for what the best performance is. If you hadn't recommended the 460, I probably wouldn't have looked at it.

I just got the comcast HD box today. That pretty much sealed the motherboard side of it. If I get a firewire card, I won't have any use for it in a year once I eventually upgrade the core of the system, so it would just be lost money. On the other hand, at least one of my backup systems acts as my dns server, so getting a motherboard with raid in there when I do upgrade my processor is something I like the idea of.

Wait, what? How is getting a firewire card not gonna be used for another year if you got the HD box which needs a firewire connection?

And you can also get a RAID card for PCI-e can't you?

Sorry, probably had that out of context. My current motherboard doesn't have firewire or raid. The decent firewire cards I've seen run around 30-40, and a raid card runs about 50-100 for the ones I would buy.

I already have plans to either upgrade my processor, motherboard, and ram this winter if I have enough extra from work, or next summer otherwise. When I do that, I'm going to buy high-end components, so they will have firewire and raid included.

Since I would already be spending 80-150 dollars for the two cards (which are the add-in cards I need), spending 120 for a motherboard that can overclock better and work better for what I do.

You've already planned all this, and you're asking for my help... why? I don't mean to be rude or anything, but it just seems like a waste of my time when you've already thought everything through and made up your mind.

That is classified information. :P

Budget of the next build is going to be around $800, not including the power supply or case, of which I've already purchased. So, $975. Potentially $100 more.

There aren't going to be i9's. And Sandy Bridge is fail to me. I like to overclock, but I don't want to buy a specific chip to do so.

Plus, I only have one computer. I will buy what is best right now, instead of waiting (without a computer) for potentially 6 months.

i do not overclock...i dont have the cohonas to do so. plus i just dont know voltage. its not what i do/know i do know how to OC. YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT THE i9's!

Plus if you just sold it of course ur gona build with what you got. what are you gona do go outside? HA yeah right!

2a. What is the main purpose of this computer? Gaming
2b. If work and gaming, state which is more important.
3. Are you going to overclock? TILL' IT BURNS
4a. What do you need in this build? every thing including OS, do not need monitor
4b. How much harddrive space do you need/want?-what ever fits in budget
5. How long do you plan on keeping this computer? as long as it will last
6a. What kind of case do you like? I would prefer if you picked out a case- whatever is cheap
6b. I will strictly not recommend keyboards or mice. ORLY?

I could possibly use the 3850 in this, but would rather not.

Wow! Epic deal! Get this and put in your 3850. You'd have to get a new GPU eventually, though.
