on the real. Some of you need a quick lesson in what REAL rap is.
Anyone who lived in the 90's grew up to the golden age of rap. Sadly, some genres of rap, particularly the whole "Southern rap" and "Dirty south rap/hip-hop"
killed it, as stated by Nas is in his song "Hip-Hop is Dead".
"Artists" like pall wall, Gucci mane, baby D, etc have AT THE MOST good Beats RARELY. Besides that,
I cannot even understand what they're saying half the time.. If I can, I wouldn't call it anything produced by an "artist".
I'd say the best years of rap were for example the years 91' to 99' maybe 2000 or 2001.
Hip Hop was put on the map by artists like Jay-Z (
Dead presidents) Mobb Deep (
Shook ones and later Quiet Storm) Nas and and two of his first albums (
Illmatic and It was written), And of course The notorious B.I.G and the album
Ready To Die, along with some pre album releases, like
Party and Bulls**t.
Tupac shakur last but certainly not least. I myself never really listened to Tupac so I can't really say what song put him on the map.. Besides the Fact that his popularity greatly increased after his notorious passing away.
If I could recommend any 4 albums to anyone that want to hear some Real Hip-Hop, they would be the following.
^
Nas, Illmatic. One of 2 albums I've EVER listened to where I love EVERY SINGLE SONG.
^Mobb Deep. The infamous. Perhaps one of the most Famous of New Yorks 90's rap scene, for the sole reason that this album carried with it "Shook ones", to this day the track is still immensely popular, Very notable for it's simple, yet Amazing beat. I recommend this Album for the reason that is by far my Favorite, and I love Every Single track on this album.
^
The Notorious B.I.G, Ready to Die. I love just about every song on the album except for 2 that i never got into. Great album. Machine Gun Funk is my favorite track.
^
Jay-Z, the Blueprint 3. The newest album released that I can recommend, released in 2009. I'm recommending it because Jay Z has always kept the same flow, maintained Great beats, throughout many many years of being IN the game. Also because I like nearly every song on it.
As far as underground urban rap goes, I can recommend
immortal technique, in particular his song "
Dancing with the devil". A brutally realistic song about life in Harlem, NYC in the late 80's and early 90's.. The song scared the crap out of me the first time I listened.
Last But not least by any means, Here is a video of the song "
Shook Ones", By Mobb deep. I'm pretty sure it's the clean version. Listen and get addicted. =]
