why all the rap hate?

I've never really liked rap from the start, it was ok but I was never into it very much. I don't even see how it is considered as music, it just sounds like a bunch of people talking into a mic with a beat. Plus I really don't want to listen to people swaring the whole time, I don't know any rapper who can go without swaring once in a song.

It is fine if you are entitled by your opinion, I think that's great.

Here is the reason why I hate rap and Hip hop (basically Today's Radio music)

Reason #1
Too Repetitive : saying the same words over and over and over and over again is not cool, it practically makes people understand that you are not smart enough to think of other things to say in the song.
Reason #2
Most of them are Racist:
People Hating on other people just because of their race and basically their skin color. Mostly offensive to Caucasian People. Enough said.
Reason #3
A lot of them (Like Lil Wayne) Talk too much about drugs, sex, and being greedy.
It is the truth, go watch some Music videos by people like Lil Wayne or Pitbull and you'll know what I mean.

Those Are my Reasons, I personally prefer something like Christian Rock, Techno, Dubstep, Classical Rock, and Screamo.

Some guys think that all rock is emo, hmmm I didn't know that John Lennon and Paul McCartney were Emo.

Reason # 1:Lil wayne

Reason #2: Lil wayne

Reason #3:Lil Wayne.

I'm starting to see beastie boys comments.....I <3 the beastie boys. They came to my town last year and I wasn't old enough to go to the show, this year im ready.

This thread was invalid when Noise called rap "music".

you should read the thread before posting

it is not my fav type of music but there already is a page or 2 about it being a matter of opinion and how people like you who have not informed themselves have a worthless opinions on the subject.

For me, most rap creation is talentless with the exception of the lyrics. Then, most of the songs I?ve heard are about drugs, sex, violence, degradation of women, etc. When the lyrics are nice it sounds good. Oh yea, computer generated music isnt good either, IMO.

on the real. Some of you need a quick lesson in what REAL rap is.

Anyone who lived in the 90's grew up to the golden age of rap. Sadly, some genres of rap, particularly the whole "Southern rap" and "Dirty south rap/hip-hop" killed it, as stated by Nas is in his song "Hip-Hop is Dead".

"Artists" like pall wall, Gucci mane, baby D, etc have AT THE MOST good Beats RARELY. Besides that, I cannot even understand what they're saying half the time.. If I can, I wouldn't call it anything produced by an "artist".

I'd say the best years of rap were for example the years 91' to 99' maybe 2000 or 2001.

Hip Hop was put on the map by artists like Jay-Z (Dead presidents) Mobb Deep (Shook ones and later Quiet Storm) Nas and and two of his first albums (Illmatic and It was written), And of course The notorious B.I.G and the album Ready To Die, along with some pre album releases, like Party and Bulls**t. Tupac shakur last but certainly not least. I myself never really listened to Tupac so I can't really say what song put him on the map.. Besides the Fact that his popularity greatly increased after his notorious passing away.

If I could recommend any 4 albums to anyone that want to hear some Real Hip-Hop, they would be the following.

NasIllmatic.jpg

^Nas, Illmatic. One of 2 albums I've EVER listened to where I love EVERY SINGLE SONG.

Mobbdeeptheinfamous1995.jpg

^Mobb Deep. The infamous. Perhaps one of the most Famous of New Yorks 90's rap scene, for the sole reason that this album carried with it "Shook ones", to this day the track is still immensely popular, Very notable for it's simple, yet Amazing beat. I recommend this Album for the reason that is by far my Favorite, and I love Every Single track on this album.

Ready_To_Die.jpg

^The Notorious B.I.G, Ready to Die. I love just about every song on the album except for 2 that i never got into. Great album. Machine Gun Funk is my favorite track.

Blueprint_3.jpg

^Jay-Z, the Blueprint 3. The newest album released that I can recommend, released in 2009. I'm recommending it because Jay Z has always kept the same flow, maintained Great beats, throughout many many years of being IN the game. Also because I like nearly every song on it.

As far as underground urban rap goes, I can recommend immortal technique, in particular his song "Dancing with the devil". A brutally realistic song about life in Harlem, NYC in the late 80's and early 90's.. The song scared the crap out of me the first time I listened.

Last But not least by any means, Here is a video of the song "Shook Ones", By Mobb deep. I'm pretty sure it's the clean version. Listen and get addicted. =]

Reasons why I hate mainstream rap / hip-hop.

1. all of it is auto-tunned.
Leave it to t-pain guys ya'll just over use it tooooo much.

2. Song lyrics are so repetitive it's rediculous.

3. 90% of mainstream rap is about money, sex, drugs, prostitutes and "swagger"
the only mainstream artists that aren't about that, 100% of the time, are nas, the game and eminem

The hip-hop / rap I like is the underground stuff.

like immortal technique, benefit, jedi-mind tricks, and diabolic.
why? they are actually smart, and rap about real issues, not make some club hit single.

My story by benefit. (may contain some explicit lyrics)

Dance with the devil by immortal technique (contains some obscene language not suitable for eGO)

Razorblade salvation by Jedi-mind tricks. (too lazy to look it up)

some good songs by underground artists. :D

you haven't heard the underground rap or the 80's and 90's rap which still speaks to it's original purpose which is essential protest music just like reggae was. it came up because these people were oppressed blues originated the same way but at a early time.

also define computer generated music i play guitar bass and drum and work with analog synths but i also work with virtual instruments and they are still instruments and i work at a studio for my night job and even with full on bands im there editing drums and sometimes replacing or layering samples with them.

list some current bands that you listen too and im sure i can pick out tons of studio tricks in there songs to give them there sound.

im into tech death, neoclassical metal, black metal, classic metal, classic rock and punk. What I can't stand is pop (black-eyes peas and ke$ha) and rap. the only thing i might listen to is a bit of little wayne just for the bass.

The early stages of rap were good. Vanilla ice, fresh prince, dj jazzy jeff, etc. were cool. The recent evolution of what rap has become has, in my opinion, brought great shame to what it used to be. It has become, generally speaking, very violent, angry, and sexually hungry. I recently heard a song with a girl singing about getting herself someone to perform cunnilingus on her. That kind of rap, is what?s being played on the radio these days. It does NOTHING good for promoting good behaviors in people that are easily persuaded by music.

By computer generated music, I mean the beats and tracks that are created by using nothing more than the buttons on a keyboard that get struck in a rhythmic pattern. I?ve no doubt that some ?artists?out there use actual instruments but they always use the same basic patterns. Patterns that are taught in beginning drum, bass and guitar classes. There?s no complexity to it other than the rhyming of the lyrics. Yes, the rhyming I do consider an art as most people can not do it no matter how hard they try.

I?ve no doubt that bands such as DEVILDRIVER and UNEARTH occasionally use some synthesizers in the recording stage of their productions to improve some sounds, but all their songs are all complex and original in the guitar, drum, and bass performances.

The only rappers that I like are Outkast and Eminem. Yes a few Em songs may be contradictory to what I?ve stated, but as we all know its only a few songs. The song he did for 8 mile is my favorite one.

kinda but i know with both devildriver and unearth that they play the drums to a click and heavily edit them to be perfect after the fact than the use them to trigger a sampled drums to fire with them, than there are all individually compressed and then sent off as a group to be compressed together. which is a lot of editing and processing for drums and most of it can only be done with digital audio.

and the vocal tracks or doubled and have had the copy's pitched up and pitched down to less the effects of being out of tune and to make them sound fatter.

than look at house and dubstep some of those basslines drums are hugely complex.

so it is kinda hard to draw a line between what is a instrumental and what is a computer generated.

Of course there?s going to be editing involved in the production to bring out the best sound possible for the record. Hell, even live when you can?t really use the synths, etc. because the effects get drowned out, sound good. Editing or not, they are still playing their own complexly talented music playing their instruments with passion.

The beats that most rappers use can be replicated by a five year old on a drum set. Though, i think this starting to go more towards a talent, lack of talent discussion lol
