Does Steam servers recognize all types of headsets? Because it wont recognize my Tritton's.

Make sure your drivers are setup properly. Also go to Steam > Settings and make sure its selected under "Voice"

moving this to tech help.

To answer your question, neither steam nor the servers have anything to do with your mic functionality. You need to ensure that your audio drivers are properly installed. And depending on your operating system (XP or older) you could need additional drivers specifically for your headset.

Me and spy2brandon sat for at least 20 minutes trying to figure this out but to no avail...

There is the possibility that Steam doesn't see his headset as a audio device... I had that happen with a USB Headset my friend gave me after my cat knocked my plantronics headset that I had a few years back off my desk and broke them.

regardless the problem is driver related and should be fixable by either

a) reinstalling sound/headset drivers

or

b) fiddling with the sound settings in control panel until you find something that works.

Well after some experimentation I've found it works fine and great in Vent but not in the CS:S servers.

go into audio controls, recording, input.... and uncheck all except "recording control"

had the same issue setting up my new headphones.

When I say this you guys are gonna think I was trollin... well after playing some dust a guy told me to go into options communication and check the button for talk. Upon realizing the button was k to talk, I pressed and realized my mic worked all along. Silly me ^^
