First Car Buy

Buy a Volvo, you will get like 2 inches of Swedish steel in-front of you, so you can get in a bunch of accidents and not see a single dent. (safest cars around)

Yeah, BMWs are great. I really wanted a M3 95. e40 bodies are just so nice... That's the thing, idk if i'll be upgrading as soon as i get it... My friend has a 3 series and he's spent more than 30K in just one year....

I currently drive an M3. The great thing about those cars is that they do not need any work to do what they do best.

However, they are really fun to mod.

If you do not know much on modding, I do NOT suggest this car. I know my fair share of things about cars and I haven't really touched my baby, scared stiff about hurting her. :P

Yeah, very delicate M3s....

personally id prefer a bmw

but like someone said

you're paying a lot more just because of the fact that its a bmw

Stay away from those Wankel Mazda's, those are not low maintenence vehicles. For $2.5k you could get a mid-90's Miata and if you wanted to, slap a Mazdaspeed Miata turbo kit on it. Low maintenance and reliable, plus it's a great track car.

If you want a sporty car thats on the cheap side, I suggest the Mazda Rx 7

I'm 18, and I've been driving for awhile now. My mom offered to buy me a new car. Somewhere in the 2.5k range... The thing is, i really don't know what to get. I would like an import car. So please help me pick. I need something that will last long, and not need a lot of maintenance and fixing... Here are some cars i'm looking at.

USED:
'95 BMW M3
'06 Mazda RX-8
'94 Mazda RX-7

oh btw, in the long run, i'll be doing some circuit racing with my friend who is helping me get in the racing scene...

M3.

K, OP, and others, feast your eyes on this before you jump the gun and claim the RX8 would be a better choice, I'd probably go with the RX7 before that. The RX8 wasn't designed with racing in mind. Look it up. Even though the RX7 in my opinion was ugly, and the RX8 is better looking, both would get eaten alive.

Even a 95 E46 M3 would smoke a 2006 RX8 or the older RX7.... The years in between have nothing to do with a newer car being able to compete against an E46 type engine M3.. The RX8 is a quick car, but still, even against an older M3? nah. T

The Mazda is lighter and quite quick so it would catch around turns and such, but as far as pure acceleration and catch up time the RX7 and especially the RX8 would be destroyed.

Why this isn't common knowledge, I'm not quite sure. even a modded RX8 would have mad trouble.. AND if the M3 is modded, depending on the mods themselves, you can forget about it all together.

The only reason why I would ever even think about getting an RX8 is because it is a sexy looking car. The RX7 is not the worst looking thing out there, but I'm not into its looks. I'd only go with it because it is quite quick.

Needs more motor heads in this thread. =P

How many miles does the M3 have on it?

I got into cars HEAVILY after my first car. That being an infiniti G35 Sedan sport. Had two of those now I'm on an I35. Not as sporty, but same year, and same engine.. Just front wheel drive.
