Why Scout and tips for using it?

I'm not sure if this has been said yet since there are about 10 million words above my post..

But I've been told that a lower mouse sensitivity helps aiming because it reduces the effect from "panic movements" that you make when you see somebody.

Positioning is KEY to any gun, I honestly suck at aiming, but if you have the better position you can totally over play anyone. another tip is to change your zoom_sensitivity_ratio slower scope movement = more accurate shots even though thats opinionated.

Man JunK. Those were 2 great videos. Can you still do that since they fixed hitboxes? I used same tactic as you and it isn't as effective as it was before the updates. :confused1:

honestly i haven't noticed a hitbox difference at all. either way thats the effectiveness of flick shots. you see where they are at, you flick and shoot and bang it hits. its almost instantaneous depending how quick you are at flick shotting.

also i have a very high sensitivity. its not great for normal weapons because when you need to move a tiny bit onto a tiny target obviously a higher sens is not ideal. but for scoping and flick shotting i find it very ideal.
either way it really doesn't matter what your sensitivity is, as long as you're used to it. i just don't have a lot of room to move my mouse, so a higher sens is necessary and i got used to it.

flick shotting is no joke, its no walk through the park, it takes a long time to get used to. you basically need to "feel" and know how hard to flick your mouse for each position you're in, and even the slight difference in distance changes that slightly etc. you really need a lot of practice to get great at it because there are so many variables.
so basically keep everything consistent (same mouse sens graphic settings same EVERYTHING) and practice. once you get used to it you'll notice it all come together.

scout is fun. i find it much much funner then regular weapons and when you're successful...oh man, just so super awesome.

One thing i like to do is have a deagle out first and get the crosshair aimed then switch to scout, scope and shoot being you don't have to waste as much time aiming. Then when things get to close range turn on the flashlight for a "crosshair-like" feel and use that for aim. Hope this helped :)

all these tips are great especially moving around while shooting, moving to different spots during rounds, and dont rush...

My scout tip: don't use double zoom. It's unwieldy and cuts down your FOV drastically while making your accuracy suffer. The single zoom has some leeway in aiming, the double does not. Now, I don't mean NEVER use double zoom, some places you need it (i.e. the long A hallway in high school), but even then most of the time single zoom will give you enough crosshair/zoom to get the job done.

I tried this earlier, great tip! It allows you to see more and still have the advantage of the scope.

Another tip: I'm going to have to quote CoD on this (I don't play, a friend of mine was babbling about it when I was at his house and he was playing). Try "quickscoping" if you don't have time to switch to secondary, scope as fast as possible and try to headshot them. I have found this useful many a time in many different hallways of highschool, dust, dust2, and even nightfever. Good luck!

Tips:

  • While standing still, the scout is accurate to an extent. Sometimes the shot won't hit exactly where you point it at long distances (such as across the main hall through long snipe in cs_office, or B hall in highschool), even when double-scoped.
  • Strafe, zoom-in, aim at the enemy, stop and shoot in this order. Immediately move or take cover after shooting, and then repeat. Learn to do this as fast and precise as you can (obviously the hardest part to master is aiming, but practice will improve your efficiency). The scout has the advantage of being lighter, so you can peek around a corner, get a quick body shot, fall to cover, then repeat. You should always try to aim for the head though. A shot to the head from a scout can kill through a thin surface and glass.
  • As with any gun, prefiring is a key tactic to getting fast and accurate kills. Predict where the enemy would be when you peek a corner by getting familiar with common positions.

  • You should try to always be in the back of the group so you can cover from a distance. This way you have the advantage of the scope and you can score some kills while the enemy is busy with your team in the front.
  • Keep close attention to your surroundings and sound when zoomed-in. Check your radar and make sure teammates are covering your six. If an enemy comes behind you and starts shooting, chances are it's game over before you can even turn around and retaliate. Keep in mind you need to move your mouse more to look around while zoomed-in than while zoomed-out.
  • Know when to use your primary and your secondary. Using the scout, the P228 or the Deagle is your best friend for close combat. Don't try to rush in with a scout and expect to get kills in close quarters, because, even though these are possible, they are very prone to fail and leave you defenseless in the intervals between your shots if you miss. Likewise, don't try to snipe with a deagle. It rarely works.
  • Never move up in the map to a place where you won't be able to fall back to behind a corner. As a sniper, when you move up, you are more vulnerable. While traversing short hallways or passages, equip your deagle. If you need to move up a long distance to an area where an enemy may potentially appear, try using a flash across the corner next to your destination to make sure the enemy doesn't pop up in front of you running forward.
  • Smoke grenades are a double-edged sword. While they may hinder range of sight if they are planted in the middle of a hall (your enemy and you being in opposite ends), they are also somewhat advantageous. If you place a smoke grenade right next to a corner in the beginning of a hallway, with good measurement, you can barely see the enemy across it through your scope, while for them it's much harder to spot you when you are inside the smoke.

Sakuya hit this one right on the head. He has some great tips here. All of which I use. And if you have not figured it out yet you can come to Office and be part of "The Scout Squad"...courtesy of BloodyHamburger and SigSauer:)

could you maybe make a video on flicking I don't really understand the concept of it.

well it'll take super long to make a video of it but i can show you. theres plenty of it in my first post on the second page in those 2 videos (almost all the kills are flick shots). but i can show you in game....you can add me to steam by clicking my sig image and just msg me we can go to an empty server and i can show you

I got real good as sniper in TF2, ever since then scout has been my favorite weapon in CS:S. The concept of the flick headshot (if yours is the same as mine) is that you don't center your crosshair on their head then fire, you move it across their head as you fire. This is the video I based my TF2 Sniping Technique off of. I know its not CS:S but as far as I can tell the concept is the same (both are Source Engine and use generally the same code for it).

The best places in the video that demonstrate the technique are the real close in shots on the scouts (the TF2 Class, not the weapon :P)
