Liquid Cooling

well pretty much liquid cooling is mainly for over-clockers.. but people do it for the speed aswell.. now if you dont know how/or the time for liquid cooling DONT DO IT!! it will leak and all that.. and do harm to your cpu.. not saying dont.. because its a very interesting type of doing on a computer

Pros of watercooling:
- more headroom for overclocking (really the main reason you WC)
- much quieter than fans (well, most of the time).
- gives a nice 'custom look' to your pc.
Cons of watercooling:
- Expensive (a basic CPU only loop can cost $200 using quality parts, loop with GPU(s) and NB can be over $500).
- makes the tower very heavy.
- needs care when assembling (leaks can ruin parts)
Im sure there are more pros and cons than what I listed but these are some of the major ones. If you are good with your hands and have some knowledge about the innards of your pc, then putting together a custom loop will be pretty easy (and it shouldnt leak). Water is going to be my next big upgrade (when i can justify spending the money
)

Like wildman says, unless you know about water cooling and it's functions, I highly suggest against it.

Air Cooling's Pros:
- Cheap
- Works well enough
- Doesn't take up a ton of space
- Zero maintenance (if you have dust filters, which you should, else its very low maintenance)
Air Cooling's Cons:
- Can be noisy
- Under high loads for overclocking, the temps can get out of hand
Water Cooling's Pros
- Exceptional temperatures no matter the load
- Gives your case a frickin' sweet look to it
- Quiet (usually)
Water Cooling's Cons
- Expensive. I'd say a decent CPU loop would cost more around $300 as opposed to $200
- Difficult (if you don't know what you're doing)
- More maintenance that air cooling
- It could leak if you do it wrong (very low chance of it happening, but it can still happen)

I'm pretty sure that if you don't know the pros of water cooling, you probably aren't going to need it.
It's pretty much enthusiast, you get insanely cool temps with air cooling, but liquid cooling just gives that little extra of looking awesome/amazing temps/quiet. But if your not pushing high overclocks, like over the norm that you can get with air, it's really not worth it. Most people won't ever need to push that high of an OC.

what? Are you using gold plated blocks or something? A decent CPU only loop can be had for $150, and you could easily do GPU+CPU for <$300

I was including CPU/NB/Mosfets. You know, the kind of loop you'd want to get. Who would JUST get a CPU loop? That'd be dumb.

i would say that maybe 20% of ppl cool thier mosfets /nb/sb with water.....
if you want to cool everything, then you could go $450

Im curious to see that build....... Ive done a lot of research on WC and Im hard pressed to find all the parts for those loops for under those prices...
Note that im not including prebuilt sets, or H50/70.

The NB doesn't need liquid cooling, just adding a fan will be more than enough to keep it cooled. Plus nb blocks just add unnecessary restriction to your loop.
I'll look up prices when i get home.
Like the people who stated above.
If you are not the good with hardware and what not, go for fans, cheap enough, easy enough to install.
If you are an experienced builder however, water cooling is the way to go, though they are more expensive and take more work to install and maintain.

Yup, The NB, probably the SB aswell dont put out much heat, unless your doing something totally out of hand.
Also, if you dont know what the pros and cons are, you probably wont be trying it.
If your looking at one of those Pre-Build WC units (H50, H70, ECO), then there ok, I mean, Im getting an H50 and some Gentle Typhoons, its gonna cool great, and not look like a large Turd in your case *cough*Noctua*cough*.
If your looking at building your own loops, id advise to really look over it, everyone else here has said that its:
Expensive
Time Consuming
Dangerous for your Parts
VS
Awesome looking
Great Temps
Silence
If you can weigh yourself to spend it, its not a horrible idea, but if your building your first PC, id just stear clear of it (Like me
) or buy a prebuilt set.
BTW, the H70 takes 10C of your Temps than an H50, but still, at 40$ more, you could just buy some Gentle Typhoons and bring it around the same.
