Whenever the ego servers are busy I tend to go on another server, 1st Raiders one. I like it because they have a full map rotation and FF is on which makes it pretty challenging not to TK much on accident. Well ever since I've been on I catch a lot of hell because I play here. Apparently a lot of ppl who either get kicked here for breaking rules or arent just good enough to compete with fellow edgegamers end up being on that server. There are some excellent players on that server though, but since that server allows all-talk on chat I hear it from both sides.

They think that because I merely play on eGo servers that makes me responsible for running them, and I never hear the end of it of how they hate eGo and the rules blah blah. And since I'm one of the few e's they see on the server, I become the soundboard for their complaints. Its pretty funny though as I always get a good laugh at them for bitching. In fact earlier today on Donner one of the 1st MRB clan members was so annoyed that I was owning him with the MG42 on Colmar that he spent the next 10 minutes following me around and blocking me (we were on the same team), jumping up and down and yelling. Lol it was cute, because he thought I would just shoot thru him and rack up enough Tk's to get kicked. But since playing on this server with FF on I've learned how to carefully shoot around teammates without TKing. The guy was 0-10 in his efforts to annoy me, but quickly got annoyed by me not getting annoyed by him so he rage quit

Stories like that are why I appreciate the administration on eGo servers. In fairness the 1st MRB admins are ok (well most of them, theres 2 or 3 who totally abuse their power and break their own rules like map exploits etc). They do keep things straight most of the time, everyonce and a while a TK'r will go bezerk but they have a mod installed that kicks/bans TKr's after 3 kills or something. And they *love* to talk, so much I often have to turn off voice chat all together. But its a good server overall when eGo ones are full.

One thing that sticks in their craw is I'm the number one player now (as of this post). And if I can reach first, just think of how awesome any of the top 100 players on eGo can do. I credit all my hours logged here and playing against you folks for some of my DoD skills. I'm almost always the player with the most caps and kills (by a large margin too) and a lot of that has to do with the training playing against you lot

So do any others here get flak for playing on different servers?

Yes, I often get flak. Often times, as soon as I enter a server, I hear/see comments criticizing eGO. "@#$%, it's an eGO punk." Surprisingly though, most of their complaints couldn't be further from the truth. Funny stuff like "eGO guys are a bunch of hackers".

I think the important thing though, is if you're going to wear our tags when playing on other servers, always remember that you're still representin' us and are a reflection of our community. No point acting like a saint on eGO servers and then letting everything go on other servers. It would just confirm the false beliefs about eGO.

It might seem counter-intuitive, but often times there's also no point in tirelessly defending eGO when you hear false assertions being made about us, especially when you're outnumbered and facing a hostile and biased/brainwashed/bloodthirsty crowd. You will frequently find yourself getting ejected from the server by an admin just "looking for an excuse".

Try hard not to be goaded by aggressive or insulting remarks against you or eGO when on other servers. Just remember, you're a guest on their server, and retaliating will do you no good. If you don't like the way you're being treated, just leave. Even simply responding with smart-aleck remarks is unproductive.

Most of the time I just play my game, follow their servers' rules to a T, and ignore the hecklers. Doing this I have managed to change some guys' impressions of eGO and have even made friends with some of them (comments like "I guess not all eGO guys are dirtbags like that STORMY character" are a common result). Heck, I even occasionally see them playing on our own eGO servers now too.

ive gotten some flak on a couple other servers ive played on...i agree with skippy 100% though...just keep your mouth shut and let your shootin do the talkin is the best idea...i kinda like gettin heckled to an extent...my favorite example of this was on one orange server i played on some time ago as a sniper...when i went 80:20 they shut up real quick...then there was the time i was owning the server i was on and heard a lot of "just wait till so-and-so gets here...hes the best in our clan"...in less than five minutes of him showing up he was another hater added to my list of dominations...gotta love haters...people are always gonna hate the best...

The only non-eGO servers I've played on are ones I followed Capt.Goomba to, and Ive never gotten any of that.

Because they don't like our servers for some reason....players, rules, etc. This is not to say there aren't players out there who play often in other servers, but don't have a beef with us. The point is that you'll probably get heckled in many servers out there just because you wear an eGO tag. I have encountered it on numerous occasions with even random bans and kicks. So, I simply try to ignore the criticisms and players who try to bring me and eGO down. It is probably difficult to do, but the best thing you can do is show the true colors of the clan. Yes, I know we have bad apples time to time. By in large, we are a solid group of gamers. It can be a very powerful tool if we can change people's minds, which could lead to more people coming to our servers instead.

The immaturity level shown by all ages playing online games has stunned me. I have played competitive games over 48 years. Now thanks to the computer, gamers sit behind a monitor anonymously and say whatever they want because they can get away with it without personal repercussions. Welcome to the world of the cyber bully. Playing on eGO reinforces respect towards others and control of our "Own House". If people play nice they can stay and have fun. Mom and Dad said so!

Very well said, I only disagree with the point about it possibly being the people on our servers that drives some away.

We have the best pubs and some amazing admins on our servers. I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned rules.

Most of the issues I have seen with other servers are immature teenagers and young adults who dislike the fact that we keep our servers "clean". While (my guess is) this appeals to the vast majority of mature and or adult gamers, there will be a segment of online gamers who like Boyle said just want to act like thugs. Unfortunately for them that doesn't fly on eGO and I am sure it doesn't sit well. The reasons is that they most likely want to play on eGO servers and act their childish selves. If they didn't want to play on our servers it wouldn't be an issue. But because we are the largest online gaming community we tend to have a higher percentage of online players. No one really wants to play in empty servers.

The next probable cause is envy. But honestly can we blame them?

The best part is that when they are on our servers and they are warned about breaking rules, these tough guys want to play here so bad that 90% of the time they will then comply with the server rules because they like to play on our servers so much.

I have played on many servers, and some are instant eGO ban on sight, which is sad tbh, and others welcome you to there server and appreciate what we do and so on.

so i get both sides as well, your best bet is to just ignore them and respond if asked a question respectfully, and tactfully, if that is achieved, then you can find yourself in a new server welcomed by there admins, or hated/banned.

so Choose your words wisely lol.

JK you wont be banned, but being respectful is a good representation on who and what eGO is about

Alot of the times I just take my tags off so I don't have to hear it. I play on Beer-Count Server's alot and they sure hate eGO. There was a time I was in there with my tags on and shot a guy through a wall because his foot was sticking out..... 4 seconds later I got banned for a week for hacking. I laughed so hard after that then went to one of our servers.

I've heard that a few times on OUR Flash and Donner servers :chair:

Protip: If lying prone in the 2 story at the top of the steps with an MG, Do NOT back up too far or I will gleefully shoot you in the foot from the hotel doorway.

That said, I play 99% of the time on our servers or not at all, as I can't tolerate a pack of potty mouthed ill mannered 11 year olds hollering at this grandfather.

One night I was bored of the normal eGO server (which is pretty rare), And the zombie servers were not full at all - so I decided to go to a random server to mess around in and maybe get some recruits. So i went to a smaller server with a few guys hanging out. When I entered, they were like "DUDE ITS AN EGO!" like I was something special. Its was more humorous than shocking haha.

With regard's to our rule's, I have played years ago cs, then dod for 10 years in all that time I played by my rule's so you could imagine my surprise when I first played on an ego server, they played by my rule's it took only a couple of visit's for me to join and I have not looked back once. I know our member's have broad shoulder's and can take any criticism from other server's with pride and dignity. Keep your tags polished and represent the best server's on the net.
I only hope to play on ego server's for many more year's to come.

Lets see I'm banned from a few rangers servers, MCG arena, a few russian orange servers...the list goes on? Yea lots of haters out there. Yea I basically stopped playing on other pub servers... kinda burned me out, got tired of putting up with people's crap.
