Gimp users

Hey guys and gals! I am going to start getting into making sigs and avatars. So I am going to need some pointers, mostly from Gimp 2.6 users. Since that is the program I will be using.

So if you could give me any tips, and places I can get brushes and stuff, and tutorials would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've done all (most) of my signatures with gimp. It really isn't much different than PS.

Really Tremendous? Everytime i try to use it i get lost and dont know where the tools are. I dont have that problem with Photoshop. The interface seems really awkward for me.

Wow, yeah, I've done every single sig, other than my most recent 3, with Gimp. That is about 30 signatures, and I've never had an issue with the interface.

I don't have or ever used PS. I could use some links to tutorials, to download brushes, etc.

Just go to deviantart.com and search for PS brushes. PS brushes work for gimp, you just put them in your brushes folder. Fonts are the only tricky things with gimp. Tutorials for PS work just fine with GIMP, just don't try to do clipping masks, no matter what you do, it will never look like PS ones.

Ive tried to use gimp a few times but i just could never get the hang of it. I started off in paint.net then moved onto Ps.

Gimps too complicated for me.

there are lots of videos on youtube that will show you where the tools are and stuff and help you out with what to do as well

I've only used gimp a small about, I use 100% of my art with PS. The problem isnt with tools / interface. Its complexity and intricacy. PS is a pro's tool of trade, and gimp (I mean no offense) is somewhat of a program for fun.

TBH, that is all I'm lookin for bud. Lol. I will make a sig/avatar for someone if they really want it. I am still learning how to use it and stuff.

Not true GIMP can be just as good as PS and just as professional. Anyway dude just use whatever program is easiest for you.
