Hey there, :)

I have a max.. 300$ Budget but Im trying to stay away from that..

All I want to do is Upgrade my CPU (LGA775 Socket) and maybe my GPU..

First off I already talked to a few people and thank you very much whom they were!

Current Specs:
CPU - Intel Pentium Dual Core e5200 2.50ghz
MotherBoard - Gigabyte G31M3L V2
GPU - Nvidia 8500GT
Power Supply: 450w

So what I want to do here people, is ask anyone whos a techy with computers taht plays Bad Company 2, is to what I can do.. I dont want to get a i3 CPU+ because I dont want to fully change my Motherboard.. I just want to get a decent/inexpensive CPU.. Which would be either a Core2Duo or a Core2Quad...

As for the Video cards I might get a ATI (amd) 4850. But we will see..

CPUs I have in Mind..
1. Core 2 Duo E7500 Processor - 2.93GHz, 3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB - $123

2.Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache - 170$

3. Core 2 Quad Q8300 Processor - 2.50GHz, 4MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB, - $150

As for Video cards, Im not sure.

If you can get a Q8300 for $150, go for it. If you can get any quad that is compatible with your motherboard, go for it. BC2 loves quads. If you go from a dual to dual, you will see no improvement.
So, with $150 of the $300 gone, get a 5770. Those are alright for BC2. It'll do you just fine.

Yup, 5770 goes on Sale for 139$ at NCIX.com .

Or if you wanna pop the budget a little, and you game on a not 30" by 1900X1080P screen, pick up a GTX 460 756 MB, it will BLOW your 5770 out of the water.

BC2 <3 quads.

8300 no doubt.

If you can, try to find a Q9550 or similar, they overclock much better than the Q8XXX series

lol Q9550!!? Were talking budget here...

Much tahnks guys.. Ill go with the Q8300!!!

As for the Video Card.

Isnt the 5770 a DDR5? I dont think my 450w can handle a DDR5, and besides.. my Motherboard..

Like I said..; 4850 w/ a PCI Fan in the slot next to it.. 1gb ddr3...

Or a NVIDIA 1gb ddr2.. Just price range around 100$ Without frying my Shit. <3

Thanks again - Opinions Welcome

Hm.. $150 for a GPU/PSU combo? You can use Newegg, right?

WHOA>!! MY MISTAKE!!

5770 1gb DDR3 For 90$?!??! Is this the card you guys are talking about to go with my comp?! It says 400W PSU + Recommended (Which I have)

that is a 5570

5770 is better

EDIT: your PSU/motherboard can handle the 5770 fine

5770 doesnt draw more than 150 ever

CPU draws 95w max

add 75 for HDDs+motherboard

That is 320w AT MAX load. Your PSU can handle it just fine

Btw I only have 2 Gigs of RAM. I cant believe if what you say is true my comp can handle a 1gb ddr5 vid card!

DDR5 has nothing to do with how your PC can handle it.

DDR5 is the type of memory used on the card.

If you're worried about power consumption, get the 5750.

5750 uses 12 less watts at full load.

138w draw vs 150

If we have to, a 5670 is also an option, but the 5770 is the 1st/best choice.

Disscussed in vent:

5670-most likely card
Q8300- pretty set in stone
Possible PSU upgrade to something like a Corsair CX430

epic!

Yeah Thanks a lot REFLEX,

And others that have posted / talked on vent with!!

FINALLY! I CAN PLAY BAD COMPANY 2~!~!~!~

I don't want to be the dissenter, but I have an E8600 (3.33ghz) in my current build that I use. My friend had a build with a Q9300. He bought an i7 930 recently and gave me his Q9300. I honestly cannot achieve the performance with the Q9300 that I get with my overclocked E8600. In some applications, the quad core gave me slightly better performance as it is able to multitask slightly better (and not always). =/

I tried overclocking the Q9300 in different ways with no success. So I take your comments that "the Quad core can blow the Dual out of the water" with a grain of salt. Might just be an isolated case, but my E8600 will overclock with no difficulty and is extremely stable.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!!

Be sure the CPU you buy can fit into your mother board. If you do have the money you should get a CPU + Motherboard bundle. But if not make sure your mother board can hold the new CPU your buying!

Isnt it gddr5? Not that it makes much difference XD

Thats the card you want: 145$-15$ mail in rebate.

If your not comfortable using this site (or ncixus.com, its partner) then newegf does pricematch with the us version (139$ canadian funds)

1. He doesn't live in canada

2. The 5670 looks like a better option b/c he only plays at 1366X768, which will be no problem for the 5670 to handle.

3. and the 5670 saves money so he can buy a better PSU

did you try BC2? BC2 is known to preform better with quads.

yes, already checked.

He has this board. Supports:

The intel site confirms that the G31 chipset is compatible with 45nm quads.
