So Im planning my first big auto project. Im going to be making a 12 second car (hopefully).

Now Im looking at different way to do this, and it seems that getting a civic and putting an h22 or something similar is the cheapest/most straightfoward way to do it. Of course im planning to do a full body kit/paint job after. Cant have a car that drives like lightning look like crap.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to make an affordable 12 second car?

Buy a Plymouth Sundance, 1992, red, manual. Soup up the engine, and win at life.

Interesting idea, but finding one with a v6 is kinda difficult. Besides its not as easy to find parts for as a civic.

True, the next car I'm getting after my Sundance is gana be something that is easily tuned, like a beat up Lancer for like $1500, making it my life to fix up, and race.

Yea, thats my plan as well. I have a 2010 gensis coup, but im not allowed to tune it at all (parents paid for it, so they get to set the rules). Thats why im planning on buying a civic for 1.5k, put in a good engine, turbo it, body kit, paint. Should run me 9k and be a very fun ride.

However if theres any other ideas, that would cost me less and produce a 12 second car, im all ears.

We talking Quarter mile? if so. '71 chevelle, the weight is very balanced. Upgrade the engine a little and wahla.

Get a 94' eagle talon TSI AWD, it'll do 14 seconds stock, all you gotta do is upgrade the turbo and intercooler to get ur time bro.
