so we have a member in game constant (Wanker) and if we are to say his name, we get kicked for language??? now... If im warden and say "Wanker drop that gun"... How do i go along the lines of doing that, Today an admin kicked a member (not me) for saying Wanker.

Now Its either EGO needs to lighten up on the language kicks or Tell Wanker to change his name.. because we can not give orders to him directly without being kick....

And for EGO's needs to get together and talk about rules, Because a Ego earlier said it was fine for saying Wanker because of his name... But then another EGO came in and Said no... you cant...

Please Explain how we safely play without having the thought in our head that were going to be kicked for saying his name??

Any suggestions?

As for the word Im not sure its allowed, I was told it was but I would imagine it is frowned upon to use. Really if you have a problem just use admin chat, its not some forbidden imaginationland to use.

You can do it by typing @ in teamchat and then typing what you want.

Ya, im not trying to say thats im complainning about anyone, its that I would like an answer if its allowed or not?

This way if it is and an EGO says no then ill refer him to this page, if its not then i would like something done, because how many E members have to be kicked because of something that can be solved by someone changing his name...

Concerning the word wanker, yes I have talked to leadership and they deemed the word okay.

Like FooFoo said. Leadership deems it ok, so you can say it. As long as it isn't directed to hurt someone, of course.

He should have been told to change his name and the member who said it should have been warned at least once before being kicked. So it sounds like an admin fail on that day.

As clarified already, the word itself is okay unless directed at somone so the player name itself is fine.

As for the kick, eGO Members are held to a higher standard than Public players, therefore if a member has a language problem, they get kicked without the warning. So, there really wasn't an "admin fail"

well if the word isnt allowed then he cant use it as his name. Either way just have him change it by asking an admin to give the order to. or talk to an eGO or eG

I believe the decision of the player changing his name is up to the admin on the server at the time.


As FooFoo said, its acceptable to be Wanker. But if it was "Boris is a Wanker" then it would be an issue.


I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but keep ventrilo open. If you have a question about a name, admins are happy to assist you. Or just keep a few of us on steam.

I also got kicked for this too TWICE (at different days) for typing his name, admins thought I was swearing but I was actullay refering to him...explained it everytime to them but guess UK admins are tough to convince that it isn't swearing =D

Some times Seek Admins dont reply or they dont care, Its like the rule about Freekilling, Everyone has done it.... And most get switched to other sides (Reg Members) but if admin is to freekill nothing happens. Except the member gets told not to say anything, I personally think there too many Chefs and not enough indians.... But thats another thread topic...

I LOL at the inappropriateness of this comment in a thread about the appropriateness of names.

Admins have it tough. Some people are going to use this as an excuse. The place to contest stuff like this in the future is obviously in the dropbox . If an admin takes action against you about this, then use common sense and don't do it again. We're here for the purpose of keeping the servers punk free and maintaining that eGO environment.

Just a tip now, don't argue with an admin. It's in our code of conduct. If you have been told differently then politely use steam chat or jump on ventrillo and you can try sort it out. Don't be afraid to pull in an advisor if you think things might get out of hand.
