Here's the thing. I am a VERY good idea person. I have plots for text-adventure games I've made in notebooks around my room, basic graphs and designs for game layouts... but I can't really program.

The best map for Jail seems to fit a few patterns.

1. It is themed and decent to look at.
2. It has room to explore.
3. It is fair for both the T's and the CT's and gives footing for rebelling and containment.

Examples: Amazonian fits 1 and 2, but seems to be more fitted to the T's, and most rounds end in quick rebels.

However, a map that is too hard to rebel at all on is not going to please anyone either, except the lucky ones who get CT.

My proposal for a new map would be modeled on a 1984-style theme, a prison of stainless steel, propaganda posters, torture rooms, cameras everywhere, and more. I already have several "Ministry of Homeland Security" posters that could be used. The entire thing would be dirty industrial.

New games:

Musical chairs. A set number of wooden chairs in a room. When the music is turned off, one will be left chairless. Depending on limitations, a chair will automatically disappear one by one, or CT's could simply destroy a wooden chair on their own for the next round. This would also kill the need for "last reaction" type games in discos.

CT locations: Overwatch central: Overlooks the main prison cells. Cells would be manual control.

T rebel paths: One cell would have a poster on the wall that leads outside the complex via a sewar, which should be familiar to movie buffs.

Torture chamber: Various ideas for this one, one that received positive feedback was a solitary cell with a loop of Justin Bieber.

Rave: Raves/discos are and should be a key part of any map. I have seen six songs on one eGO map, but most have a sad three. Why not a nine song map? I've seen it done. Things to remember is that VARIETY IS KEY. Yes, happy hardcore and techno rock, but you're aiming for a mix to please most players.

Some songs to consider adding that break the norm. (And yes, I have high-quality rips if needed). Note: Yes, I have a lot of high quality techno and hardcore I can supply as well, but I'm focusing here on ideas that would probably get overlooked otherwise.

First of all, it's a disco, so consider adding some actual disco. KC and the Sunshine Band, for example, or Bus Stop's remix of Kung Fu Fighting.

Rednex- Cotton-Eyed Joe. It's got a decent fast-paced beat, and is definably not your typical country song.

Darude- Music (Bostik Radio Edit). Sandstorm is overrated and everyone has heard it a million times. Try this classic Darude hit instead.

Adam Freeland- We Want Your Soul. Needs to be censored a bit, but an excellent song, with at least 4 remixes.

Men Without Hats- Safety Dance. For the irony.

Europe- The Final Countdown- Use this or the 2000 remix when lockdown is about to occur.

Possible secret songs-

Auto-tune the news, Chocolate rain mix, TF2 heavy Justin Bieber remix.

More observations coming soon.

The reason we don't have 9 songs is we aren't having 80mb maps, some of the songs your suggesting are kinda suckish , they don't suit a disco, and manual control is stupid as people forget and grief it.

Thats your opinion. He has the right to add whatever he wants to his disco :)

I think he also has a right to have some positive criticism, instead of bashing his ideas.

I like the musical chairs idea you have, but since we have noblock, wouldnt it be hard to acheive one person being left out? Im sure theres some way to do this, I just can't seem to think of one.

Great idea though, musical chairs would be something I havn't seen yet on a map.

The music is not that bad.

Musical chairs would be sweet if it worked. I do not think the T's would follow it so it would be hard.

Anyway, I love torture chambers, well when I warden. There's nothing better than organising T's into sepertate chambers and then giving them mini challenges where the losers face mass execution.

However, while rebelling, I'm really old fashioned. I love the Jail 1 based maps. I love vents in cells. No, I like lots of vents in cells, diffrent vents in cells. Random vents in cells. I also like easy access to armoury. There. Easy access to armoury and lots of vents. I don't like 1 vent that leads to a cool advantage point but rather lots that lead to various parts of the map.

But yeah, I can see this coming together if you can get someone to do it.

Please note I said the music list was for variety. It was in no way meant to be the majority of the music, which would be pulled from my collection of happy hardcore, trance, gabba, noisecore, and the like.

The songs I listed were chosen simply because of the fact that almost every single map has the same generic music. Sandstorm by Darude is commonplace, and I've yet to see a disco with any disco music.

I mean, I could list some Freezepop, Scott Brown, Rammstein, Cascada, Basshunter and the like, but those are more obvious.

I'm still sorting through my rock songs for possible matches.

Vents would probably be in the map as well, but my sketches still are refining the layout of the map, which would be an indoor/outdoor map. Mainly indoor, outdoor would exist mainly as a pathway to rebel and a few guard points for CTs.

I really wish I had a good compiler to create a text game with. I have a good "serious" game all scripted out about 9/11. Also a few murder mystery/detective games.

Sounds like you should be a mapper:)

Agreeing with both. I like the song ideas you have and I LOVE the torture chamber idea. I think you should post this in the Mapper's Section. They could use ideas like yours. :)

If you knew how to create maps, it would probably be a really nice and creative jail map.

these are good ideas. i like the musical chairs one. your selection of music fits your style but im sorry it doesnt fit mine :) overall i dont really cary about the Disco music so its all good but maybe you should do something that isnt so original. there are alot of discos, pools, soccer fields, play grounds, etc... i think we should find a new and way creative one that will attract a bunch of people. a good example is our highschool server. Its populated all the time and its something new to the people. They love it

Since a few people have commented on the music, I'll go ahead and list some of the mainstream ones I was looking at (and some most of you will not know):

Provoker- Counterstrike In The Line Of Fire

Palerider- Counterstrike Training Remix.

DJ B.a.r.- The CS Instrumental

(Look up those three if you've never heard them).

Twisted Sister: I Wanna Rock and/or We're Not Gonna Take It (The rebelling T's anthem.)

The Shamen- Ebeneezer Goode

Slyder- Neo (The One)

Silvia- Vertex β. (AKA Vertex Beta)/ What-ever/Eurofreak/Angel Stays on This Ground.

Consortium of Genius- Dance or Die!

DJ Sharpnel- Pretty Green Onions, Final Countdown TV, Blue Noah 2006... almost anything by this artist is golden.

Doctor Steel- Are We Having Fun Yet?, Fibonacci Sequence, On The Run.

Caramell- Caramelldansen (Speedy Cake Remix)

Almost anything by Basshunter or Cascada.

Funtastic Power!- Semisonic- Closing Time (Remix).

Sure with manual control but make an automatic that opens at 5:00 incase CTs abuse or forget.

Like your ideas but somewhere else would be good not css divison

that sounds cool i tryed to do a map for jail but there is t guns everywhere and its like a war map and i think that if you put your mind to it you can do what you are saying and it should be a good map.

Sketches are progressing nicely, but are nowhere near scale.

The main area I've focused on is the cellblock. The cellblock room would be in a hexagon shape (really would like pentagram, but that screws up room exits). In the center, elevated, would be the "overwatch", a guard control room with 360 degrees of viewing of the area via glass walls. On one hand, this would make rebelling right off the bat a lot harder then normal. However, it would totally kill any advantage of spawn camping. You can see them, and they can see you. This solves the major problem I often see: Camping spawn/armory. Oh, and the glass will be like in the Office map. Bulletproof glass is for wimps.

The escape room would have a false wall. Ergo, a poster you could walk through. No sound cues to tell you someone is rebeling, you need to check that cell every time. Gives the T in that cell a bit of an advantage to hopefully locate a small pistol or such.

Most of rebellers time would be spent in vents or in the small outdoor area. However, the vents are rather old and in a state of disrepair. You might not like where they drop you... think of them as a maze outside of maze.
