As some of you may know, I moved out to the country. The fastest internet available here is sattelite, which is slower than DSL, and may or may not be sufficient for CSS. I have a new computer and will probably install the game tomorrow, but chances are I will not be able to compete with the cable and dsl connections that most people have.

I dont guess there's anything yall can do to help, I just thought after a few months of regular play then suddenly dropping off the map I should let you know what's goin on.

Well, see how it is first before you make any big decisions. Chances are you will be able to play still, but if not, I guess ill see you around:)

What satellite provider?

Hughesnet only lets you use about 100mb's a day, which is like 30 minutes max of gaming.

thats... unbelievable...

best of luck to ya man

Well, when I had it I couldn't even start Steam because it was so slow.

I maybe put out a max of 10 Youtube videos before they cut the speed down to less than Dial Up for 24 hours. It is unbelievable, and somehow they get away with it.

O.o well im happy ive nvr had them :D mediacom ftw >.>

if u look around theres other things besides satellite before i moved we couldn't have fios so we had a wireless usb thing and it gave you pretty good connection with unlimited data and you had about 120 ping to 90 so depending on reception

Well Super, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope I still get to own some pplz with you in CS:S!

Take care mate.

It's wildblue, theyre partners with directv some kinda way. I believe I get 17GB download and 5GB upload a month. After that they cut it to 128 kbps until the end of the month. That's the Elite Pro plan, the best they offer.

We looked into cell phone carriers, I know they offer a USB thing. Trouble is, even with verizon the reception inside the house is very very poor. I'm about to set up this new computer so I'll probably let yall know tonight.

Thanks guys

What muffin said, if you have REALLY bad internet, stick a good 3G dongle into your router and use that instead. It's pretty damn fast compared to satellite.

I had cox communications too before, they had pretty good cable.

Does anyone know if 17GB Down and 5GB Up a month is enough to play css regularly? I know there must bit quite a bit of data transfer to have all the video and sound to and from the server. Actually it would be slightly less than that.

I really hope you can sort this out! I could never live with this. I do so much downloading and uploading for videos and stuff.

Take care be safe, and don't get hit by a car while raging into the street and then going afk right in the middle of the road and being hit by a car :D
