This section is about the eGO website and how to navigate it; confusion has been caused by those who do not know how to use it correctly, so this section is necessary. First off I?m going to cover the basic layout of the website and where the main areas are, then I will go into the details of what each bit of it does. Feel free to sit back and read through this at your own pace, even if you?re an avid forum user you may learn something new today. Also, the website was pretty much built by Dominion, so give him some thanks for his brilliant work.
1.1.1, What is a Forum?
Ah, the forums, probably the heart of eGO they are. But what exactly are they? Looking at Wikipedia gives you a rather basic outline of what exactly they are, and they are pretty simple really. To quote Wikipedia:
So what does all this mean? Well, think of it like a chat room to start off, users can post messages, when these messages are posted they are called ?Posts?. Simple eh? Now, that?s the lowest level of a forum, posts. The next level up is a ?Thread?.An internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are not shown in real-time, to see new messages the forum page must be reloaded. Also, depending on the access level of a user and/or the forum set-up, a posted message might need to be approved by a moderator before it becomes visible.
Threads are topics which users can discuss and talk inside, kind of like a themed chat room; they are also sometimes called ?Topics? on some forums because of this. Threads can be grouped into multiple categories, depending on what they are like. There?s the normal thread, it?s pretty simple, whenever a user posts in the thread, the thread is bumped up to the top of the forum that it is nested inside. Then there are locked threads, these threads are locked by moderators and administrators, once locked it is impossible to post in them. Threads that are locked are usually either important messages which should not be discussed or threads which are deemed to no longer require any more posting inside them. Spam threads are locked. Finally there is a Sticky thread, these appear at the top of the forum no matter what, they are usually Mega-Threads (more on those later) and forum rules, they need to stay at the top because they are important.
After threads there are the forums and sub-forums. A forum is the discussion board itself, which is split into sub-forums which have their own theme. Sub-forums are simply themes to put discussions into so that things are not all messy on the website. To wrap it all up, the forum is the entire discussion board, which is split into sub-forums which are themes to put discussions into. Threads are discussion topics and posts are where the discussion takes place. I hope you follow me on this.
1.1.2, Forum Etiquette
The so-called Forum Etiquette should be considered with every post, it?s pretty easy to uphold forum etiquette seeing as unlike a chat room, you have all the time in the world to type out your answer as it is not in real time. So what is Forum Etiquette? Well, it?s simply where you take your time to make your post look professional, easy to read and generally make it better for those who look at it. When you type out your message, the way you do so will reflect on what kind of person you are and how good you are going to be in a discussion. Here?s an example of bad forum etiquette:
As you can see, it?s ugly, unattractive and generally makes you want to rage at someone who generally is going to be a pain to help out. It?s a typical ?Oh god? moment. An example of good forum etiquette on the problem would be:HEY GAIZ WAS UP U WNA HLP ME? :facewall:
MY PC KP CRSHING WEN I PLY CSS ZOMG HLP. :facewall:
:facewall: :facewall: :facewall: :facewall: :facewall: :facewall: :facewall:
Now, you can see the major difference, one of them is easy to read and would probably get their problem solved within a short time, whereas the other one is pretty much illegible, uses too many emoticons and gives absolutely no details of what his problem really is. This is the power of forum etiquette, take your time to do it well.Hey guys, I?ve got a problem with Counter Strike Source, can you help me?
After the new update whenever I launch counter strike the screen goes black until windows pops up a message saying ?Counter strike is not responding?. My OS is Windows Vista 32 bit.
Thanks for your time![]()
Now here?s a quick solution, some web browsers have spell checkers built into them, very handy if I do say so myself. I know that Mozilla Firefox has it and I recommend Google Chrome if you want to upkeep forum etiquette. Don?t know a words spelling? Google what you think the words spelling is and Google pops up ?Did you mean:? with the correct spelling around 90% of the time when you search. Also avoid using an overload of emoticons and excessive use of caps make you look like you?re shouting.
If you want to know more about Forum etiquette, Beta made an excellent guide here.
1.1.3, BBCode and Emoticons.
BBCode is what is used on the forums, it?s what allows you to format your messages to make them easier to read and use, getting the right balance in the formatting is the key to success on the forums. This section is mostly a tutorial on how to use BBCode and what it can be used for.
So let?s get to work on the basics, with bold, italic and underline. These are pretty simple and will be used the most in your posts. Here is an example of them in action:
These effects are pretty neat to use on the website, but what are the codes for them? Here are the codes for each of them as you will see them in the editor:This is an underline
This is bold
This is italics
As you can see, BBCode is a little like HTML, using tags that fit around text to format the post into whatever the user desires. There are a lot of tags, but I?ll show you a few for now. You can see a box around where I?ve displayed the tags, that?s a Quote Box. To make it use this code:[u]This is an underline[/u]
[b]This is bold[/b]
[i]This is italics[/i]
You can also center text, make a link out of it and even make images. Below is the example and below that is the code:[quote]This text will be displayed in a Quote Box[/quote]
This pretty much concludes the section on BBCode.[center]This is centered Text, it also works for images.[/center]
[url=www.edgegamers.org]This text links you to the eGO website[/url]
[img] http://www.mouserunner.com/images/WindowsIconPreview_128x128.png[/img]
But WAIT! There are emoticons! Emoticons are small images that you put in using small codes, they are also called ?Smileys? and can be used to reflect your mood. You can get an image of all the ones you can use on the eGO website here.
1.1.4, User Control Panel
Ah the famous User Control Panel, it pretty much governs how you are viewed on the eGO forum. If you haven't checked it out yet, I think you should as soon as possible. To access it, simply click the
Once inside you can go ahead and edit all of your details how you wish, but there's 3 main parts that should be your priority. First of all is your Avatar, this is a small image that is 125x125 pixels that goes under your name whenever you make a post on the forum. Avatars need to be under 35kb in file size. This represents you and you can easily get one from the "Request Art" sub-forum. This is an example of an avatar which I am using right now:
Your profile picture is a 100x100 pixel image that is displayed on your profile when users look at it, it's relatively small compared to an avatar and is generally used to show a picture of the user in real life, or so it is from my experience. Pretty much anything can be placed in the profile picture slot, but it isn't as much as an impact as the Avatar.
Last, but definitely not least is the signature. This is placed underneath a users post and can contain images, text and links. Anything that can be placed in a post can also be placed inside a signature. Usually and image the size of 175x175 or 500x200 is placed into the signature area, these represent the user far more than avatars and can be requested from the signature shops in the "Request Art" sub-forum.
1.2.1, What is MAUL?
MAUL stands for Modern Administrator Un-Limited, which is indeed a complete and utter mouthful to say, so it has been abbreviated to MAUL. MAUL is by far the most important system in eGO, it links the website to the game servers that you play on in eGO. MAUL is required when you sign up, which provokes the question of "Why?", well, MAUL controls who is an administrator and who is not, keeping track of SteamIDs and bans. Simply put, without MAUL there would be chaos.
1.2.2, Why do we input our SteamID into MAUL?
When you input your SteamID into MAUL, you are giving it your SteamID and allowing it to record your bans and administrator rank. When you are promoted, MAUL will go ahead and give you administrator access, assuming you've taken your administrator class that is (Correct me if I'm wrong). When you receive a ban, MAUL will log it and make sure your ban is across all servers that have MAUL on them, so if you get banned from one server you become banned from all of them until the ban is lifted.
1.3.1, DarthBox??
Okay, the DarthBox, or to give it it's name on the website the "ShoutBox" is a real time chat room on the website that you can use to talk about things inside it. There isn't really a theme or a topic to it, just chill out and have a small chat there. Inside the chatroom is a command to do action commands, this is the /me command, it outputs things like this:
On top of that the box is also used to give out surprise Casino Cash(More on that later) prizes to unsuspecting DarthBox users. When a prize comes along, it will display in the chat. The first person that clicks it will receive a prize. These prizes are set up by Dominion and are not always positive prizes, meaning you could click on it and LOSE 10k Casino Cash. On top of that Dominion has been known to put images into the chat, nobody knows how he does it.* eurocracy yawns
1.3.2, So why is it called the DarthBox?
Darth is an eGO rank member who resides in the TF2 division of the organization. Over many years he has taken over the ShoutBox by talking in it so much that we all give up. So to honour him owning the ShoutBox we nicknamed it the DarthBox, well, he did. So that's that.
1.4.1, Why do we have a Casino?
The Casino is a place where you can play Casino games with other members on the website, obviously. You don't play with real money, instead you play with Casino Cash which is earned by recruiting. You gain 1,000 Casino Cash (CC) for each recruit that you bring into eGO. Another way to gain Casino Cash is bounties, bounties are placed on players by members inside eGO, it simply runs on the transfer money command in the Casino. Once the player with a bounty is killed in a specific way the killer will receive the bounty off the member who placed the bounty. To access the Casino you click the
1.4.2, What can we do in the Casino?
Well, play Casino games. Playing Casino Games is the final way to earn Casino cash, you can either earn Casino Cash inside the Casino off the Casino itself or other players in a poker game. Be warned, players have been known to start off with 80,000 Casino Cash before a poker game and come out with nothing left. It's risky going against other members. You can also transfer Casino Cash to other members if they have won a bounty or something along the lines as that.
1.5.1, We have blogs?
Every single member in eGO has a blog, which can be accessed by clicking on the
Ah the structure of eGO, it's commented and discussed on a daily basis, to be frank it's quite simple, but the amount of people I've seen make a fuss over one point of the structure is amazing. So I'm going to clear up all this with the Structure area of this guide, this also will go over the Code Of Conduct in full, explaining pieces which are confusing to some members. Don't worry, it's not to complex, as written before, relax, sit back and see if you can learn anything new here.
2.1.1, Ranks?
Right, I've seen quite a lot of people get really confused about the difference between ranks, also since the ranks are across all divisions, this should come first before the division information. In this area I'm going to settle a few simple things about ranks, this should help solve anybodies confusion about the structure of eGO. To start off, the ranks are already shown in the "History and Structure" on the website, but I'm going to go into a little more depth about them. The ranks are as follows:
2.1.2 So what does each rank do?
Okay, lets see if I remember all this correctly.
=(e)=?
The "e" rank is the first rank in eGO, it's on the bottom of the tier and everyone starts out as one when they join eGO. If you are an e, do not be afraid of administrators, they know the situation that you are in because they have been in it themselves. If you are an e, you are not an administrator yet, so you should simply concentrate on playing the game and having fun. The e rank members should not attempt to administrate on the servers, they should leave it to the administrators and ask one to come in if somebody is breaking eGO rules on the server. To quote the Code of Conduct:
=(e)=?'s are our first line of defense on the servers. There are a lot of you out there and we encourage you to help out your fellow clan members even if they are higher ranked. However, helping out doesn't necessarily mean warning people who break the rules or arguing with trouble-makers. If there is an admin in the server please leave all server situations to them. Feel free to use the admin chat command (u@) if you feel they may have missed something.
=(eG)=?
The "eG" rank is a trial administrator in effect, they do not have all the powers that an administrator has yet but they can still hold the peace on an eGO server with what they have. The main abilities that they have is the ability to kick, ability to read the dead chat while they are alive, the ability to use private administrator chat and global administrator speak. They also have the ability to remove sprays that are not obeying the eGO rules. If you are an e, don't forget that you can use the "@" command in team chat to privately notify any administrator, even an eG rank could have missed something going on in the server, such as someone breaking the rules over a microphone on the opposite team or team chat on the opposite team.
=(eGO)=?
The "eGO" rank is a full administrator, they represent eGO and it's rules and regulations by using their powers to keep the servers safe, fun and friendly. They do not have the restrictions that an eG administrator and receive the ability to ban people who are consistently not sticking to eGO rules on the servers. If you find a person who is breaking the rules on an eGO server where there is no administrators, you should go to an eGO rank member first since they can handle around 95% of situations. As stated before, though their powers may seem rather imposing and frightening if you are an e, they have been through the rank that you are in, they are human and do make good friends.
=(eGO)=? Advisor
The "Advisor" rank is the next step up, these rank members are a part of the "Leadership" rank area, which governs how eGO servers are run and what the rules need to be. Advisors have RCON (Remote Console) access, which means they have the ability to change server settings, as well as kick and ban if the Administrator system ever goes down. If you have a problem with how a rule is run, the first person you should go to is an Advisor, for they can consult leadership on the issue and a possible change could be made. In DoD, Advisors host events for the members. Advisors are assigned areas which they control, such as bans, recruitment, etc.
=(eGO)=? Division Leader
The next step up from Advisor is the Division Leaders, they listen to the Advisors and control what happens in their division. The Division Leaders have the main say in what happens in a division, they are usually involved in problems which an advisor cannot solve. Inside a Division, Division Leaders are the highest rank and will communicate directly with Council members.
=(eGO)=? Technical Council
Technical council are what keeps eGO running, they are in charge of the servers, the website and MAUL itself. If there's a problem that is involved with the complex machinery that runs the Organization, these are the people to come to.
=(eGO)=? Divisional Council
The Divisional Council cover what happens inside their division, they control the outcome of large decisions in eGO as a whole. Without them, there would be nobody to handle the burden of these decisions and nobody to run the divisions from a much larger perspective. The Divisional Council are no longer members of a division, instead they work in eGO on a higher role.
=(eGO)=? Community Managers
The Community Managers are the highest rank in eGO, they control anything and everything if they do so wish. Using the guidance from the council, they have the final say in problems within eGO, they are only needed in matters which are extremely important in eGO.
2.1.3 Myths about ranks?
Ah, the myths, I've heard them all, so let me cover them all for you! Okay, this one got pretty popular for a while, though I will admit I have absolutely no idea where it came from. The myth is that the eG ranks are donators to eGO. This is absolutely false, all administrator status in eGO is free, it is given on the basis of promotions which is decided on whether the member will use their newly gained powers without abuse and if they will be an active, fun administrator in the game.
Another one is that if you donate you will instantly rank up or that Dedicated Supporter gets you from e->eG. This is absolutely not so, donating is to help the great community of eGO run, not for you to gain ranks. As stated before, eGO bases it's administrators on maturity, not on how much money they give to the clan.
2.1.4 Promotions
Ah promotions, probably the most widely discussed thing in eGO altogether, the promotions mark new administrators being promoted, obviously. As you can tell, it's an exciting time for the e ranks as this is their chance to become an eG and become an administrator on the servers! Mostly discussed is when are the next promotions going to come around. Well, they usually come on event times, such as Easter, and there was one on "Back to School" promotions. Though I do admit I will never know why they made one for going back to school, it's not much of a celebration time.
There are two types of promotions, there are the mass promotions and the field promotions. Mass promotions are given out once every month or two or on special times of the year, like Easter or coming back to school as stated before. What happens is a list will be posted on the main eGO news on the website, it will contain the names of everyone who has been promoted from e->eG and eG->eGO, there are also some eGO->Advisor promotions every so often, whereas Division Leader, Council and Community Manager promotions are placed on their own separate promotion post on the eGO news.
The second type of promotion is the field promotion, which is given to members while they are "in the field" to use an expression. This is given usually to members who are outstanding in their positions and a mass promotion is too far away in comparison.
There are also promotion recommendations which go in the dropbox, these are designed to allow people to write about people who they think deserve promotions. The dropbox promotion recommendations can be written by any ranked member in eGO and are seen as activity monitors of members inside the organization.
2.1.5 More about Ranks
There's a lovely video about the ranks e, eG and eGO below.

2.2.1 We have Divisions?
Yes we do, when eGO was first formed, it only supported one game, DoD:S, which mean that no divisions were required. But as eGO began to grow and expand into other games, the divisions were created in order to help split eGO and make it more organised. At this moment in time eGO has 9 divisions, all of which are run by their own separate Advisors and Division Leaders. Each division also has a council member.
2.2.2 What divisions do we have?
Well, we have a lot of divisions, considering we have nine, all of these represent a different game or multiple games on the basis of one theme. If there is no quote from Wikipedia in the following games there will be a quote from another source. The divisions are as follows, including a quote from Wikipedia explaining what each game is and an explanation from me:
Day Of Defeat Source
The first division eGO ever had, DoD:S is still a titan of a game today.
Wikipedia said:Day of Defeat: Source is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Valve Corporation. Set in World War II, the game is an updated version of Day of Defeat, moving from the GoldSrc engine used by its predecessor to the Source engine. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on 26 September 2005, distributed through Valve's online content delivery service Steam. Retail distribution of the game was handled by Electronic Arts.
Team Fortress 2
TF2 is cell shaded class based game designed to appeal to all types of players, it's well known for it's very frequent updates.
Wikipedia said:Team Fortress 2 is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Valve Corporation. A sequel to Valve's previous Team Fortress Classic, it was first released as part of the video game compilation The Orange Box on October 10, 2007 for Windows and the Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version then followed on November 22, 2007. The game was later released as a standalone package for Windows on April 9, 2008. Team Fortress 2 is distributed online through the Steam system, while retail distribution was handled by Electronic Arts. The development of Team Fortress 2 is led by John Cook and Robin Walker, the designers who originally created the Team Fortress modification for Quake in 1996.
Counter Strike Source
Perhaps one of the largest divisions, the CS:S division boasts the incredibly popular Jail gamemode server.
Wikipedia said:Counter-Strike: Source (officially abbreviated CS:S) is an FPS video game developed by the Valve Corporation. It is a complete remake of Counter-Strike using the Source game engine. As in the original, Counter-Strike: Source pits a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won either by completing an objective (such as detonating a bomb or rescuing hostages) or by eliminating all members of the opposing team.
Call Of Duty
The COD division mainly covers the game COD4 Modern Warfare
Wikipedia said:Call of Duty is a first-person and third-person shooter video game series franchise, created by Ben Chichoski. The series began on the PC, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds, and several spin-off games have also been released alongside the main series. The majority of the games in the series have been set primarily in World War II, with the exception of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops which are set in modern times/Cold war Era.
Mod
The Mod division is based off HL2 modifications, which make it incredibly unique, it started out as the Insurgency division but has grown to accommodate more modifications over time. It consists of 3 main mods that are played:
Insurgency
www.insmod.org said:Insurgency's primary concept is to create an immersive online combat experience for the player, with an emphasis on teamwork and realistic elements to create intense firefights in detailed environments. Insurgency is designed as a modular game split into Operational Theatres: The first of them, already released, is set during the present war in Iraq, after the fall of the government and the end of major combat operations. The second theatre, now under development, is based on a yet-undisclosed Eastern European conflict. INS will be expanded with additional conflicts and armies in the future!
Resistance and Liberation
www.resistanceandliberation.com said:The goal of Resistance and Liberation is to realistically portray the events and actions taken by the 82nd Airborne during their stay in Normandy. We will attempt to follow the regiments through the campaign that was taken by the men themselves. We will also introduce various other World War II setting maps. The campaign will begin with players dropping into Normandy in the early hours of June 6th with the ultimate goal of capturing the town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. From there, subsequent maps will include missions based on locations such as Montebourg Station, La Fiere, Carentan, and other key areas.
Firearms: Source
www.firearms-source.com said:Firearms: Source is a Half-Life 2 modification based on the previous Firearms modification for Half-Life. Firearms: Source utilizes the Source engine allowing us to recreate and improve the Firearms gaming experience, while also making improvements to the graphics.

Bad Company 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the latest game in the battlefield series, providing a new experience with a realism that rivals the COD Modern Warfare Series.
Wikipedia said:Battlefield: Bad Company 2, usually known as Bad Company 2, is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 systems. It is a part of the Battlefield series and was released worldwide in March 2010.
The game is primarily a squad-based online first person shooter based around modern warfare. Additionally, the game includes a single player campaign, where the player reassumes the role of Preston Marlowe, the protagonist of the original game. The game's Frostbite 1.5 engine allows for destructible environments, and multiplayer maps contain a wide selection of vehicles, aircraft and emplacements and allow for five different game modes.
Eve Online
I don't know where to start with Eve Online except that it is massive. As an ex-player of it I find it incredibly fascinating how they keep managing to add more to this already huge universe. The style used in it revolutionises MMO gaming and is incredibly addictive. The eGO corp is still growing.
Wikipedia said:Eve Online (officially capitalized EVE Online) is a video game by CCP Games. It is a player-driven persistent-world massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in a science fiction space setting. Players pilot customizable ships through a universe comprising over 7,500 star systems. Most star systems are connected to one or more other star systems by means of stargates. The star systems can contain several phenomena including, but not limited to: moons, planets, stations, wormholes, asteroid belts and complexes.
World of Warcraft
I haven't played this game, but to be frank it's the standard for all MMO's, unlike Eve Online it has an easier learning curve and has one of the largest player bases in the entire of the internet.
Wikipedia said:World of Warcraft, often referred to as WoW, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.
Strategy
The strategy division is split into 3 games at this moment, like the Mod division. The games are as follows:
League of Legends
I haven't played this strategy game so I wouldn't know, I think it's free.
Wikipedia said:League of Legends is a game inspired by the Defense of the Ancients map for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows. It was first announced on October 7, 2008 and released on October 27, 2009. The game was in a closed beta from April 10, 2009 to October 22, 2009. It then transitioned to open beta until release.
Runescape
I think everybody has played Runescape, I'm an ex-player of it and if you haven't, you should go give it a go, it's free and you don't need to download anything.
Wikipedia said:RuneScape is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in January 2001 by Andrew and Paul Gower, and developed by Jagex Ltd. It is a graphical browser game implemented on the client-side in Java, and incorporates 3D rendering. The game has approximately 10 million active accounts, over 130 million registered accounts, and is recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's most popular free MMORPG.
StarCraft II
Well, it's a strategy game, true and pure, and with the graphics it boasts it's a good one.
Wikipedia said:StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game developed and released by Blizzard Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. A sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft, the game was released worldwide on July 27, 2010. It is split into three installments: the base game with the subtitle Wings of Liberty, and two upcoming expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
Personnel Service Centre
The Personnel Service Centre, or PSC for short, is responsible for processing the applications of new members and recruiting more new members into the clan if possible. The PSC do not focus on any specific game, and it is only possible to join when you are of an eG rank or higher.
2.3.1, Rules?
Ah yes, the rules. Probably another well discussed topic seeing as they are incredibly complex and can determine whether a player gets banned, kicked or left alone. The rules are laid out in a different way with each admin, but bin the end they all follow it in pretty much the same way. The main rules are described in the Code Of Conduct, which is below:
Those are the rules as they are put in the Code Of Conduct, but the is much discussion over what they actually mean.Code Of Conduct said:EGO Server and Forum Code of Conduct
(Public Rules)
1. No foul, degrading, or racist remarks.
2. No inappropriate or disrespectful sprays or names. All sprays and avatar icons used on eGO servers should be PG-13 rated. No nudity is allowed. Final decisions on what is acceptable are left up to the admins in the server.
3. No cheating, cheat scripts, barrier jumping, map exploits or hacks of any kind.
4. No griefing.
5. No F10 or Alt-F4 jokes.
6. No advertising in servers.
7. No names or sprays that advocate or oppose a political figure, political stance, religion or nation.
8. No website URLs in names, sprays or avatars.
9. No impersonating admins.
10. No arguing with admins.
11. Do not disrupt the server in any way.
12. Do not pester admins.
13. Admins have final say in server.
2.3.2, Explanation of the rules
These are the rules rewritten in a way so that confused members can understand:
1. No vulgar language is allowed in eGO, neither is racist or swearing/cussing. Simply put, the "Grandma" test is ideal, if you wouldn't say it in front of your Grandma, don't say in in eGO servers. The words you can say are "Damn, Ass and Hell".
2. This one is pretty simple, first of all all sprays and names should adhere tom rule one, they should not be racist, vulgar etc. No nudity on sprays is allowed, these lead to pretty much instant punishments. The same thing goes for steam avatars as they show up in most game scoreboards.
3. Simply put, if it gives you an advantage over your opposition and is not deemed as "fair" in the game, don't even do it. Wall transparency skins may not be detected by VAC, but using them will lead lead to a permanent ban on eGO servers if you are caught.
4. Griefing means "To cause one grief", which is quite a powerful word. Grief means "to be at a loss". So Griefing means that if you are causing a player to be at a loss in a game, you will be banned rather promptly. Griefing contains but is not limited to; Teamkilling purposefully, deliberately attempting to make someones game worse than it is and having a deliberate negative attitude.
5. F10 and Alt-F4 close the game, they aren't funny for the people who do them. Once a person has done this, the server loses a player, they often don't come back.
6. No advertising in servers means no giving website links, company names, recommending products etc.
7. This should be pretty simple, having a name, spray or discussion containing "Hey vote for this guy" or "Nation > Nation" should be stopped immediately, such conversations end in bans, not a conclusion.
8. No website URLs because of section 6, you are advertising a website.
9. No impersonating admins, it makes you look pathetic and admins will absolutely hate it if you do this. HOWEVER, there have been times where a member has accidentally put an eG tag on instead of an e because he copy pasted, this should be kept in mind in the basis that if he's/she's not acting like an admin, he/she should simply be told to change the tag.
10. Arguing with admins is a stupid idea, think about it this way, when they have the power to mute, kick and ban you, you've never got a chance. They also know the rules to the precise degree, if they tell you something is something, it is.
11. Disrupting the server can be having a negative attitude and generally everybody being disgruntled with you in game.
12. Do not pester admins, only admin chat if you are 1005 SURE that a person has done something wrong and that they have missed it. Admins do not need 100 messages every time somebody cusses in a server.
13. As in rule 10, admins have the final say, once they do, please be quiet. Nobody wants to hear a massive argument between an e and an eGO ending with a very large ban time.
2.4.1, Communication Types
If you want to communicate with other eGO members and call in administrators if there is trouble n the servers, there's 3 main ways to do so. First of all we have Ventrilo here. Then we have [rul=http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=irc]IRC right here.[/url] The final way is to contact an admin or member over steam, I mean, everyone should have eGO members on their steam friends, right?
This is a W.I.P thread, it will be massive, it will contain information about the website, in game information and how to deal with difficult situations that may arise. I'm all open to suggestions.
