There's too much money still in PC gaming for it to get abandoned entirely. Yes it is slowing down, but i doubt that it will die

I think the problem is that people are too lazy to learn about how to make a gaming comp and/or dont have the money to get the proper tech to run games on their computers and would rather buy a 150$-300$ console that is pre-built and is already set up for you (such as internet connectivity). Also its probably that its getting compared to the amount of console gamers, which has taken a rise recently due to more casual games and their easier availability and it looks, comparatively, that PC gaming is dying.

To be honest, I have never ever compared a console to a PC. It's always been PC then PS or XB (or before that Nintendo 64, PS2). It's sad to see forums being trolled these days about PC > Console or vice versa. IMO, both markets will be around for much time to come.

Honestly, game developers completely dropping support for PC terrifies me. The biggest incentive for companies to make better products is the profit at the end of the road. But when someone like Maxis comes out and tries desperately to make a very solid PC-centered game like Spore, it becomes the most torrented video game of all time. PC's customization is both it's greatest strength and weakness.

I would actually say it's increasing. All the sales figures they throw out don't take things like steam into account, where most PC gamers buy their games. Steam just recently hit 3million active accounts..

I see it as a grey area, go back 3-5 years ago and many companies would scoff at the idea of creating exclusive PC content. It was a platform with rampant piracy and people would share their software repeatedly. With the recent years, Steam and a bunch of other services are giving more developers incentive to developers on the PC without risking money from piracy while other stills have their heads in the past.
It's also a market that's hard to enter, Blizzard controls 62% of the MMO Market and who knows how much of the RTS Market. We demand better graphics, cheaper DLC, Editing tools/Mods at a slightly lower price point. Sure more developers might enter the fray, but for now most will only play around with the idea.

Yes, but if they can make that happen, PC gaming would become insanely popular again.

steam still relies on devs

The last decent game that was made for PC (that i remember) was Crysis. (Source engine games, doesn't count, because it is basically
HL2 just skinned a different way, no real innovation there)
Everything else has been a console port:
BC2
Metro
BatmanAA
COD
etc.

Just because it's made for both consoles and PC doesn't mean it's a port. Doesn't have to be PC exclusive. Asking them to re-build it from the ground up for our version is too much. All we're asking for is changeable graphics settings, dedicated servers, and a good control scheme while keeping good optimization.

The ones that you named we're sort of ported, but were still a lot of fun to play on the PC. There has been multiple games that have come out and don't feel like a direct console port. And if your looking at PC exclusives there have been multiple ones since crysis. Starcraft 2?

I agree with most everything there. But bc2 was a console port. Especially if you played the beta. All that was missing is the ps3 logo. It was deff not 'sorta' ported.

All the games i listed are ports

the games suffer in glitchyness, and graphical quality because they are ports.

GTA4 was a horrible mess because they pretty much just copy pasted the code from xbox to PC.

game devs should build for PC. I want high-res textures, I want 6-core optimization, i want less random glitches.

And Sc2, forgot about that one. +1 cookie to you
