Curiosity kills the Ric. For Jail Players.

Do you like confusing orders made purposely to kill Terrorists at the beginning?

Now let me be honest here, This is the whole point why i don't play very long due to these type of wardens.

Jail isn't about points"Well not to me.", It's about fun and enjoying the game.

Now if you were someone who come come up with alot of ideas then hell i'd

people would stay but tricking people into something just to get them killed is

wrong, Not only does it ruin the whole point of jail but your forcing people to

hate you or leave the server because they feel like they're being the target.

Now i don't know if you all agree with me but that's how i feel.

Well said Angeal

I like the old days when they said "Run out of your cell to the sandbox, no detours." And then you actually had fun.

Lol. I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.

I think what Fl!p said is correct. T's make the excuse of "Oh come on! That is some dumb orders! You stink!", but the fact of the matter is they just didn't listen.

I also understand that there is a limit to not listening and just plain extremity to order-giving. If the warden can give the order twice, clearly, and understandibly, then it is a order that is fine. If it is an order that you can't even understand (speech wise) and is completely unorthodox, then I would start asking him to shorten it.

I do miss the old days when wardens had an idea of what to do before the round even started. Nowadays, they have to make us sit infront of our cells for about a minute and a half just to think of what to do.

Glad I could put my .2 cents in.

You're right angeal, the game is about having fun, but it's also about competition.

The main goal for the guards is to wipe out the inmates with as minimal casualties as possible. Inmates want to be killed because they rebelled, not because they didn't follow orders, because dying for that reason sounds stupid to them. Just because orders get a little tough and inmates die because they don't listen doesn't mean we should dumb down the orders. It's simple: if you don't follow orders, you die.

Even if one dies, they get to play again in seven minutes, so it's not a big deal to die at the beginning. There are plenty of other servers out there for them to play while they wait.

I'd hate to intrude on this little conversation, but curiosity killed GEORGE not Ric :)

*Side-note*: Curiosity merely harmed Ric. In no way shape or form did it kill him.

Curiosity killed the cat. :)

OP: Yes, doing that is stupid and wrong. But Jail isn't Jail if people don't rage once in a while. :)

or you can be fail like SuperSillyGecko and say 270 degrees to the right (which is obviously facing left) and then a CT goes and asks should htey be facing right? and he says yes so 11 people get freekilled. twice now he has done it that ive seen

So what if a person new to jail comes to the server and doesn't understand the rules of jail completely. They die in the beginning because they didn't turn a certain way, wait 7 minutes to play, only to get killed again, so they leave the server. Bam. We just lost a potential regular player or even an eGO member.

This whole "turn X to the right" crap kills the fun in jail. No, the point of jail is not solely kill every Terrorist as fast as you can without casualties. If that was the point, then Trivia wouldn't have been banned.

There is a fine line between competition and down right boredom. Guards fighting against an onslaught of rebelling Terrorist is fun. Seeing who can or can't turn around 275 degrees isn't.

Enough. This thread is not made to put anyone down. Save that talk for your friends in STEAM chat, not on the forums.

And good, I'm glad to see I got great responses and reasoning behind your vote. Most of you stood behind my initial "No." vote. The reason I don't like this is the same reason I don't like when people play a customized game of Simon Says.

One night, we had a gentleman who said like "purple means jump, green means crouch, and red means spin" or something to that degree. So, he literally said "Simon says purple." and everyone crouched and everyone died. In 1 single Simon Says order, no LR. I believe orders/games that are made to purposely disrupt the fun environment that is Jail serve no manner and should be eliminated from the Guard's strategy. People don't spend a lot of times to put games in maps for no reasons. But that's just me. :P

Just because one doesn't know/read the rules doesn't make them immune to them.

Eh, sometimes these bothered me, but what do the terrorists have to do about it?

Nothing. The CTs are in charge, so I say go with it unless it is completely outrageous like the hokey pokey one.

Lol. That happened when i was in jail with a few others. This guy named Apollo was new to the jail community and we all started to pitch in and tell him the rules and what you are suppose to do. The cts even gave him st which was really nice of them, so he could learn the maps and understand the concepts of jail. We had alot of fun and Apollo sure was a nice guy about trying to become one of the "regulars" of jail. Sure hopes he comes back and becomes a regular at jail. ^^

No I don't. I think it ruins the fun for the Ts.

Quoted directly from the thread, "[UPDATED] CS:S Jail Server Rule Book":

"Once the guards have organized themselves, the prisoners are released from their cells (either automatically or manually-map dependent) and receive instructions from the warden on where and how to assemble. Having successfully emptied the cells, the warden will instruct the prisoners to complete a variety of tasks designed to eliminate all but one prisoner as the round progresses--all the while maintaining order and preventing rebellion. Prisoners who fail to complete tasks assigned by the warden are executed, as are those who attack guards or fall short of mini-game benchmarks."

"Once the guards have eliminated all but one prisoner, the surviving prisoner is given the ability to make a last request. In their last request, the prisoner turns the table on the guards, and assumes the responsibilities and powers of the warden--forcing the remaining guards to participate in a single game of their choosing. The round ends when the last request is played out, and the prisoner is killed by the final guard."

Two problems with Trivia: 1) We have public servers. Anyone is allowed to play, including, but not limited to, people of all levels of knowledge\intelligence and with that, AGE. The rule book comments on being fair. Just because you took Honors AP Calc 12 when you were in 4th grade, doesn't mean everyone is going to understand your crazy calculus questions. You want to eliminate down to one, not zero. 2) It is easier to cheat playing trivia than *probably* any other mini-game in Jail, as alt+tab > IE\Firefox > Google for answer, is not as difficult as it sounds when you are trying not to DIE, lol.

What is not a problem with Trivia, or crazy orders delivered at the very beginning of the game, is when it is used to reduce numbers. That is the point. The point, however, is not to see if you can figure out something that NONE of the prisoners can accomplish and end the round in one command. That does not make someone a Warden that is, "213374U".

Unfortunately, the rule book makes mention of playing "fair" then leaves much to be desired in the way of explaining what is and isn't.

I could see someone making a rule that use of degrees above 180 is outlawed. Why? Given that we cater to children before adults, its only reasonable to assume that not EVERY 13 year old is going to be "quick" enough to figure that out, if at all. Do I think that should get banned though? No. Useless orders like "...turn 472 degrees counter-clockwise and freeze by 5:05" should be, though. NO ONE can prove what is or isn't 472 degrees, nor is it a simple task for the guards to watch EVERY prisoner and make sure they didn't just turn 112 degrees clockwise (as if 472 were measurable with any accuracy in the first place).

I don't like the idea of groups continually adding rules, just like I'm not in favor of much regulation in real life. I do think it is fair, though, to at least set an example for pubbers by all eGO members only utilizing 90 degree increments up to and under 360. The more rules\restrictions we place on this game, the less popular it will be as a server. Just as it would happen if we let it become a lawless mad house.

The key is to find an appropriate level of regulation so that the largest possible group of people can be happy.

someone says one thing and then it catches on. thats what happened with the 90 degrees thing. i definitely miss just "shift walk to <insert place here>"
