Curiosity kills the Ric. For Jail Players.

Do you like confusing orders made purposely to kill Terrorists at the beginning?

Well this is one of the reasons I dislike jail and don't play it anymore so.... no

The 90 degree thing started just to say turn right, there was no focus on what the actual degree you are facing, it was just in addition to saying turn right, because some ts would spin in circles saying "i'm turning right". By no means was it suppose to be a measurement of how much to turn, it was just to say turn right and stop after doing so. However, I do understand how some wardens take it too seriously and say things like turn x amount degrees... which is where it starts to be confusing especially when they either forget what they said (like in silly's case) or say something like 222 degrees to the right. I say 90 degrees just to make it clear that I want you to turn and to face the direction to the right. I don't think its confusing nor do I kill people who are "not right enough."

As for people who don't know "angles" honestly I would say and KuNai would agree, or at least lol, Personal Problem. If you are old enough to play this game, (which legally at least in the US you need to be 17+ to even buy it) you should know angles. The youngest players I have seen are usually 10 years of age, which in the US is about 4th-5th grade. I don't know about you but I learned about angles (at least 90, 180, etc.) in 3rd grade, and that is in the US (25th ranked in education), internationally I'm sure it is learned younger. I think it is reasonable to consider 90 degree increments of angles to be "common sense".

I however did vote no on this poll, as I think the game is getting away of its goal, to be fun. Ts don't like staring at walls and playing trivia, or dying at tasks that are only luck and not skill (like live or die, couch game, etc.) . I personally think all those games should be banned and we should stick to games that require the ts to actually do something, like we did before couch game, and before trivia. Stuff like Climb, and races, and soccer games, etc.

As for this:
So what if a person new to jail comes to the server and doesn't understand the rules of jail completely. They die in the beginning because they didn't turn a certain way, wait 7 minutes to play, only to get killed again, so they leave the server. Bam. We just lost a potential regular player or even an eGO member.

Most people would say Personal Problem, or they should know the rules or whatever, but our rules are soo hard to get compared to other servers. The jail server really, at least in terms of the rules, caters to eGO members. I can't imagine being a pub and trying to decipher what people say about what rules are what (which is ushually wrong by admins and members alike). Or they could try and see the rules themselves but then again they have to decipher our forums and find the rules which to a pub would be near impossible, not to mention the fact that there are so many "unwritten rules" some of which are true some of which are not. Like today I heard the rule "unproductive LRS can only be 30s long", says who? Where is this written, not on the rules thread. The rules for jail are such a mess despite the multiple attempts by leadership to standard it. Honestly there needs to be a rule that says "there are no unwritten rules, if its not listed here its not a rule", it should be added to the rules. Which is another problem the rules haven't been updated in months. At the very LEAST the rules should be able to be accessed from the server on an MOTD or something, not only on this site. W/e I'm done, thats my 2 cents take in what you want, argue with me about what you don't, but I will win lol (I was my High Schools Debate team leader, and won all the way up to states) so I will win.

I was a pub and eGO was the first jail server I visited, and I ended up joining the clan through it. The rules as I remember were even more complicated back then, but I managed to understand them through playing the game more and more. What I'm saying is jail is complex enough as it is, as you say; trying to make it even more convoluted with these cheap tricks is only going to hurt jail.

In the end. That's just being a stupid warden. It's easy to play boring games. We could play russian roulette all night, move places backwards and then move back.

I can't imagine this being fun for any warden or prisoners, which is why it doesn't really happen. I mean, if the warden is intentionally confusing the Ts repeatedly and getting them killed... it's negatively impacting the server and that is griefing.

Also, guys, lets stick to the topic of confusing orders and not get caught up in some random jail quabble.

By the By Oprah, the 30 second rule comes from this particular jail rule

Activities Must be Expedient

* The last request may not proceed for an unreasonable length of time. While certain maps do enforce an artificial round endpoint (lockdown), on maps that do not your last request must be designed to quickly and systematically eliminate guards until the last guard attempts to eliminate you. If the game proceeds for too long or does not include a structured plan to eliminate guards quickly, an admin may intervene.

Meaning that admins on the server at the time decide that a game like telling a story is not structured and have set the time limit of 30 seconds, in order to keep gameplay flowing. Not every single technicality in jail is listed in the guide, however, you will find that if you read between the lines, that there isn't really anything that they haven't covered.

I would say having it be somewhat complicated (shift walk backwards until you hit the railing, turn 90 degrees to the right, then 270 degrees to the left) are fine, but when they start getting to the unreasonable (having non-90 degree increments, having more instructions than can be reasonably be followed), it needs to be cut off.

come to think of it, old school jail I never raged. Now a day's I am a rage machine lul.

No. I hate confusing orders. It's right up there with 2+2 trivia, and shame on those who do it. Shame.

This is why I just send the T's to Disco. That, and I love me some Disco.

Yeah, I hate them too. espeically when the warden gives his/her orders (turn 270 to the left, do a 360, then turn 90 to the right), while the other CTs are jabbering on about what they had for lunch. Then they blame the Ts for not paying attention.

Not everyone knows how far each degree of turning is, and please make your fellow CTs sthu.

I prefer the reg orders, with being able to look around of course, as staring at the pixelated dirt on my cell wall gets kinda boring after 3 minutes.

If anything, skip these orders, and as other people said, bring us right to the game you wanted to play. Especially disco. Gotta get the boom boom shakka lakka on.

I don't play the degrees game.

However, I will sometimes give complex orders after telling the other CT's to shush.

Example... turn 90 degrees left twice, crouch, and freeze.

Of course, there was one time I said to turn to the left 90 degrees, knifing, and freeze.

Only two-three guys did it. Everyone else was facing right. I had given orders twice.

After killing the ones who failed, I got revoked for confusing orders.

So... *shrug*.

I've told other CT's, if you play the degree game, I'm not shooting anyone.

ive been a year and a half on eGO and that "confusingness" has always been around, personally i dont like to treat T's as if they were stupid or give em orders so difficult, they wanna have fun too, tho!

I like the old days when they said "Run out of your cell to the sandbox, no detours." And then you actually had fun.

+1

Except it was run out to the playground. ego_forest in '08. Good times.
