It was actually pretty awesome, down here at college the guy across the hall used to be in eGO back in the day! I think I have convinced him to join up again over Christmas break!!

One of the best ways I've found to recruit is to set a good example of having fun. Some people have the knack for talking to others, chatting them up, and getting them to give eGO a shot. I'm not one of these people. But I have other strengths: I love playing TF2 and I love cutting up with my friends. Some of my best recruiting runs have been with xosniper (another total clown) as my pocket medic. Every uber was wasted by me trying to taunt-kill everyone. Or I'd get headshotted and the moment I respawned I'd launch into him "I though you were healing me?" We'd have the whole server cracking up at our antics and then we drop some little things like "yeah, eGO is a lot of fun" and "we're all like this, just a bunch of clowns". Some people are great at the high-pressure recruiting, but everyone can recruit by just having fun playing. If you're not the chatty type, don't force it. But make a point to have fun and just be cool to everyone in the server. When someone joins and types "hi", make it a point to respond with "hi <name>". If every pub's experience with every eGO member they meet is "those eGO's are friendly and fun" then they'll jump at a chance to join the moment someone asks. You don't have to be the sales guy, you just have to set the table.

Whatever happened to the "recruiting" part of the server titles? That was how I ended up joining eGO way back when. I'm sure it would influence a lot of people even without members being in game.

You know another good place to recruit?

Turbine!

Sometimes it's hard to recruit when there's 64 crockets flying in the air and snipers are backstabbing all your turtle medics and everything is crazy go beans.

However, if you're taking a few minutes to assist Turbine during a reboot-slump, and there's 4 people on the server and everyone is playing "Sandman only" while waiting for the server to pick up, you've got 3 potential recruits RIGHT THERE who aren't too rushed to have to make a snap decision.

Every single person I've recruited or pointed to Edgegamers has come from exactly those types of situations on Turbine. Most of them are outstanding O's now. (*sniff* they O up so fast)
