EdgeGamers Organization Newsletter
November 2010 Edition
November 2010 Edition
This month we would like to start off with a word from one of our community managers:
The past month has seen major changes within EdgeGamers. We added 2 Council members, an innovative division and new leadership for TF2. Each of these events has its own story to report, but there is a back story that should be told as well.
Every addition or policy change in eGO is the result of, first, the inception of an idea, followed by thorough research and lengthy discussions in Council. Sometimes there's heated debate, but the objective is always to do what's best for the community. The Council exists to serve eGO and to do it's best to provide what our membership demands.
Each member of your Council was called upon by the Community Managers and takes on a heavy load when they agree to lead in this lofty position. The responsibilities are great in this time consuming position. To date, no one who has taken the post on Council has ever asked for anything in return and there are no special ribbons or awards to bestow on them. However, the Community Managers would like to recognize the essential contributions of these members in this newsletter.
Thank you all. EdgeGamers exists because of you.
Artimus
Thank you Artimus for opening the door a little into how Council works. With that, we will get into the news from the rest of the Community. As you may notice, there have been more promotions this month, and we would like to extend our congratulations to everyone who has assumed a new position this month.
Counter Strike: Source (CS:S)
We recently had a new promotion in Counter Strike: Source (CSS), so please give a warm welcome to Fart Vader as our newest Advisor. We know he will do well, so everyone please send him congratulations and fill his inbox with spam!
We have some good news, we are getting our scrim team back. We had a VERY strong team back when Final BattleGround (FBG) was still up, and now we hope to create a even stronger team to contend in the new league. We currently are working on getting at least 2 functioning teams going for some scrims against sG Clan.
There was a new Jail plugin that has been installed. We expect to keep fine tuning and making sure all goes well. Also, Christy has been working on some great new Jail maps and we can't wait to try them out.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BC2)
Through the hard work of all of our members, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BC2) division has passed a turning point and seems to have come out for the better. The BC2 Leadership roster had expanded to include Leftenent. After his initial hazing from Duality, leadership has only had good things to say about him, so feel free to spam him your “congratulatory wishes".
This month the number of recruits has risen considerably. We would like to point out our top recruiters; Texas is South with 9 recruits, V-FIN with 4, and RoffleWoffle with 3. Great work combining game time with getting new members to join our community! Remember, if you wish to be a part of the BC2 recruiting team, send a message expressing your interests to either Leftenent or noxx_. Keep in mind that you do not need to be a part of this team to recruit new members into eGO.

Personnel Service Center (PSC)
During the month of October many exciting events happened. To start off we would like to congratulate our very own Razor1 on his Medal of Honor Award. We would like to extend further congratulations to jeod66 and Matt With A Cat, as they received the Medal of Honor Award as well.
We would like to announce that on the weekend of Halloween, the Personel Service Center (PSC) and the Day of Defeat: Source (DoD:S) Division combined forces and presented the Halloweekend Fragfest Event. A big thank you to all of the participants of the event. A great time was had by all, and congratulations go out to the following winners:

Day of Defeat: Source (DoD:S)
It's been a busy month for the Day of Defeat: Source (DoD:S) Division. First off, as you may have noticed, we have added two new Advisors to our Leadership team, Boyle and Greenlight Terror. Both are longtime members, and we look forward to working with them. Sadly, we must say goodbye to Matt with a Cat, who has left DoD:S to become the Division Leader of the new eGO Strategy Division. We'd like to wish him the best of luck there!
Great news: Recruiting is up! But it's not "quite" where we want it to be yet, by any means. Blue Stealth is handling our divisional recruiting, and we will be handing out prizes and awards for recruiting once again! Please see the forums for more details. Angreifen has generously sponsored the "grand prize" for this contest, a copy of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops...get out there and recruit!
Over the Halloween weekend, we held the Halloweekend Frag Fest, sponsored in part by the Personel Service Center (PSC) Division.

Strategy Division (STR)
For a while now RuneScape, League of Legends, and Starcraft II have been part of many discussions in EdgeGamers Organization (eGO). The community has shown great enthusiasm for these games and the added camaraderie that they bring to us. Although these games could not stand on their own within our community, they support each other in an unexpectedly symbiotic way. With GardenGroveVW's insight into forming this amalgam, Kamakize Tommy gathered many talented leading members of these games and formed what is now the Strategy Division (STR).
The STR Division is accepting recruits, and hopes to outclass all of the other divisions with its prowess in this field. If you are playing in any of those games and see people who show the potential for being members of our community, please invite them to visit us!
Each section of the Division will give a quick run-through of things that it is doing or has plans for in the near-future. First will be StarCraft II, then RuneScape, and finally League of Legends.

World of Warcraft (WoW)
Quaffer and iWhiskey chat about WoW:
Quaffer: What is the most fun you’ve had in an event in WoW?
iWhiskey: Well the most fun I’ve ever had playing World of Warcraft was last night. We had a party of ten raiding Ice Crown Citadel, where the Lich King can be found, and an undead dragon flew down and chased the party through the halls. Another thing we really enjoy are the steam tonk battles. Players get to remote control steam tonks (tanks) and attack other player’s tonks. Our next Steam Tonk Battle is November the 18th. Check the EdgeGamers calendar for time and location.

Team Fortress 2 (TF2)
The Team Fortress 2 Division (TF2) would like to apologize for getting a little carried away with the whole Halloween theme. In our efforts to frighten as many people as possible, we not only promoted Idol to Division Leader, but we spliced TF2 with the MOD division to form some unspeakable horror. While it is undetermined at present if this merger is temporary, or will morph into something more permanent, we are certain Azathoth is pleased as we in the TF2 division welcome our hatless brethren from MOD.
Valve's 2nd Annual Halloween Event, complete with Horseless Headless Horseman, was a huge success. The Division devoted two servers to the Mann Manor map, a non-Euclidean complex designed to drive mere mortals insane. To no one's surprise the Pyro remained unaffected by this Gothic geometry. Running concurrently with the Mann Manor, the Division sponsored a Halloween-themed bounty hunt. The 1st Annual Monster Mash, conceived and organized by the not-quite-terrifying Marine4God, is expected to pay out over 1 million casino monies in bounties along with the coveted Bounty Hunter award. Any rumors that this award is actually a malevolent artifact from another dimension capable of granting its possessor psychic powers are purely unfounded.

Modification Division (MOD)
The month of November has been very busy for the Modification (Mod) Division thus far. In order to alleviate some pressure on the Team Fortress 2 (TF2) Division, the Mod Leadership has agreed to team-up with the TF2 leadership and provide them with much needed backup. With our combined forces we hope to iron out any wrinkles that the recent changes to the TF2 leadership may have caused. We are also proud to announce a recent change in leadership that has seen the promotions of !EpIc fAiL! and DigitalDJ as Advisors. Congratulate them when you see them in server or Ventrilo!
This month Mod is rolling out some new events such as the 2v2 competition and the RnL Olympics. RnL Olympics is a series of events held over a weekend which include, but are not limited to: duck hunt, bowling, racing, and bottle shooting.

Call of Duty (CoD)
The Call of Duty (COD) Division welcomes the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game to our lineup. We are happy to add a new game to the COD division after the lack of dedicated server support from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(MW2), which did not let us fully support the game in our division. With the new release, our forums are buzzing with talk of the game, with posts ranging from game release glitches to workarounds that have been found. Please welcome 4 new servers that we've added:
