New headphones

he he he i think my set-up blows all these headsets away.

AKG K 240 Studio and for the mic im actually just got a sure sm-57 laying on a small mic stand on my desk.

and overall skull candy sounds like rubbish they just have fanboys going on about how good they are without actually have the sound or build quality they should for there cost.


but above all just listen to the damn things first everyone ear is different and some people don't notice bad quality and some people do notice it and get driven crazy by it.

all of my headphones and studio monitors i either listened to before buying or i bought them because my work uses them and i am used to them.

I am jealous of your headphones. I'm going to pick up some K 242's or whatever they're called. But pretty much what you have.

Also I guess if you REALLY want the best quality for an iPod you could use an LOD cable together with an amp. The iPod has an internal amp that kinda sucks, so by using the LOD you bypass that and send the audio directly into whatever you have it plugged in to (an external amp) without the iPod amping it at all. If you use 3.5mm headphones and plug them right into the port on the iPod it can sound worse than the music actually is if that makes sense.

But again, audiophile stuff here

I'm pretty sure that if you're an audiophile, you'd get something that could support FLAC files, and didn't sound like crap compared to most other devices.

I have been trying to decide between the AKG k240 studio and Sennheiser HD 555 for an all-around good headphone. Well, mostly for gaming and movies. I just recently purchased the ATH-M50. It sounded pretty good for music, but it performed horrible in games. I was told it's because of its poor soundstage. I'm getting the uDac-2 delivered tomorrow. I hope it will help a little.

The 555s should be dirt cheap as they rolled out a new model. In Canada i saw them being sold retain for $75, YMMV. I haven't tried out the K240s but from what i've seen they should be a solid pair of headphones, dunno for gaming though. The 555s should be a good choice especially if you do that mod to made them sound better (drilling some stuff)

ipods just have crap sound quality and doesn't support flac.

do your research ipods have crap sound quality due to there hardware.

and rockbox does not run on 6th generation ipods or newer.


but point is no one who really cares about sound quality that much would use a ipod

Update: I have a pair of Skullcandy Hesh's, sweet looking and for being $10 more then the Lowriders they have amazing quality especially for techno songs. But they do get warn down quickly, I already have a crack in on of the sliders and it doesn't look like it will stop. But if you are looking for a nice pair of headphones in the $50 range i'd recommend you take a look at these.

Skullcandy: Think of taking the cheapest crap you can find, putting on an ugly skull logo, painting it in tacky colors that would appeal to the same people that the NZXT Guardian. They sound like ass, too.

The just came. I'm testing them now.

EDIT:They are really nice, just not a lot of bass. And with iTunes EQ and computers built in Bass Booster, I can get OK bass, but the treble is a little off. A little tweaking will fix.
