Which is the best server to play on?

Thanks Synergy.

But if Blue Stealth actually wants someone on Avalanche that means he only wants some easy pickings. Theres no denying that Avalanche is the worst map in the history of cartography. If youre starting off i would stay completely away from Avalanche (aka Ava, that lame map, suckfest, Blues Fortress of Solitude, Shirley) as it takes time to hate things properly. Lung and Compton have the right idea. You should head to Flash since thats where most of our noobs, and Compton, like to hang out. As for Anzio, we cool, and Argentan yeah we also cool but Argh as i like to call it, is usually empty. Strand is ok but ive been playing that map off and on for a while and i still get lost.

Anyways ill save you some time with a list of maps with notes:

Flash: For noobs. And Compton
Avalanche: Suckfest.
Donner: Awesome.
Anzio: Pretty cool.
Argentan: Cool (when full).
Strand: Semi-ok-ish.

P.S. Its ok to close this thread now since any additional comments would only be redundant. :P

Alright, Fixed.

you missed out on the best map...it was kalt...but kalt is gone now =( ...anyway...i would recommend learning the game on donner or flash...those are the two best maps we have right now...definitely takes some gettin used to though...there is a lot to learn no matter what map you play on...first thing i recommend is finding and learning all the popular hiding spots on the map you choose to play...

I think we have once again lost sight of the purpose of this thread. In my opinion a close-quarters map like Flash would be great to start off in. Donner and Anzio offer a combination of close, medium, and long-range elements for when you improve a little more, that can also help you learn the game better.

I recommend that you start off with a rapid fire weapon with low recoil like the Allied Thompson or the Axis MP40. On top of that just hop in an empty server or create your own to shoot at walls and other things to learn to control the recoil of weapons, how to cook off grenades, and learn the maps a little better. Once youre in server, i would suggest you spectate players that are leading in kills or points to see how they are doing so good. If you need help with anything find me or anyone else in Vent and we can do our best to turn you into a killing machine!

I'd have to say Donner.
I started out playing Avalanche, probably like the rest of these blokes did but, Donner is easier to learn certain things.
Tactics wise, learning the map, usage of all the weapons, it's a good map to learn on and play from.

DoD has an easier learning curve to CS:S, I'll promise you that.

...said the guy who lasted one week in DoD. lol

Really, of everything said here, this post is the best suggestion for DoD noobs above all of them. Stormy and I don't agree on many things--including how we feel about maps--but he got this post right.

I could have sworn i typed Donner, not Strand! :confused1:

Lol yeah I was a little confused by that...

Bottom line--don't get demoralized. Every division says they have the best players, but when it boils down to it, the guys who overall dominate noobs the most from the start are in DoD. We all pick up CSS, TF2, INS, etc. in minutes but it takes a few weeks to get over the "OMG what is going on???" feeling in DoD:S.

(At least you know we're not going easy on you on purpose lol)

I'd say a great starter server would be Flash. The only major difficulty you would have is grenades. Maybe Anzio, although there are a lot of detours and sneaky spots.
