I decided that this section would be best since I would have all the primary WW2 buffs around, this being Day of Defeat.

Anyway, I'm sure all of you have seen saving private ryan, the Band of Brothers mini series, etc.. They were all great don't get me wrong, but I feel as if almost some peoples take on WW2 was like, a bit swayed to strictly take an American soldiers POV.

I'd like to introduce you to Stalingrad, those of you who haven't heard or seen it, anyways.. And from what I gathered recently, not many even knew it existed.

It's in German but can come with English subtitles. I believe it was made by the same dude that made "Das boot". Pretty Unique since it shows a rarely depicted perspective of the Wehrmacht soldiers, and how bleak the battle of Stalingrad was.

^clip of one segment of the battle in the movie. It's a lot deeper, but this is a good combat scene.. makes a good first impression. English Subtitles.

Good look, might have to check it out. I have always wondered why there was a lack of wartime movies depicting the side from the Germans POV. Especially during the end of the war when they knew it was only a matter of time. All Quiet On The Western Front was from the German perspective but it was during WWI. I hope that someday a film will come along to take this on.

I feel that you really need to check this movie out. I've watched the whole thing, and it's just .. moving. The subtitles don't bug me since I know a bit of german, but more importantly I love the way their language sounds.

ive tried to find a english subtitled version online...found one on letmewatchthis.com but wont work for some reason any other version is not subtitled unfortunately...but what little ive seen seems very interesting...stalingrad was one messed up place....alot people will not admit the russians pretty much crippled the nazis....by the time americans rolled in the russians had the germans crippled to the point a 2 front war was unwinable...without the russians the germans would of pushed the allied invasion right back into the ocean..good job reds!!

This movie is yet another thing to watch to get hyped up for the upcoming Red orchestra: Heros of stalingrad. (Which has sadly been pushed back to quarter 3 of 11')

In general, for all you WW2 noobies that know little beyond the fact that America participated, check up more on the Russians participation. They were in-fact the allied side that turned the tide of the war indefinitely. OH, and keep reading Yospankdawg's threads.
