Strand Problems

hey guys silas here, i get a problem connecting onto our strand server it will say: couldnt CRC map maps/dod_strand.bsp. Anyone have a solution to this, ive been trying to connect onto what was my favorite map for the last like 2 years and it hasnt worked

It might work if you delete it from dod and redownload it.

try this:

pause menu>options>multiplayer>advanced>it's something like always allow custom maps, or something like that

First, delete dod_strand from your maps folder

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\(your steam name here)\day of defeat source\dod\maps

then, download the map again and place it into the maps folder.

The most obvious causes that comes to my mind would be either the map was either corrupted by downloading something from another server that conflicts with strand that eGO is hosting, or you are using an outdated version of some sort.

On steam, right click the game:

-> Properties
-> General -> Set launch options

Put:

-dxlevel 90

Launch Game -> Enjoy Success!

After some updates to the source engine Valve changed (read: broke) some dependencies: Some maps now require DirectX 9, when they originally didn't; like strand.

Yes... some of us have low-end PCs and need to run everything on DX8
