I know Fraps is good but i don't feel like paying 40 bucks for it. Anything thats like Fraps?

Fraps is the best. Aren't the older versions free?
I'd still acquire Fraps over any other recording programs, really. I've tried a bunch. Fraps is just the best.

I'd say fraps but i mean if you don't want to spend $40... im not sure.

Depends on the game you need it for. Source games and Blackops come built in with a recorder. If its a source game there are loads of tutorials.

What game are you looking for?

There's a program called ASUS GamerOSD I had on my previous computer. It said it could record but I never tried it.

ok i have the free version of fraps. Is there a way to make it record longer?

Not unless you A. Buy it, or B. Pirate it. (Which is illegal btw).

Yeah fraps is pretty good. You will need to adjust a lot of settings to get good balanced recordings though. For example, my recordings avg about 1gb for a 30 second clip just cause I like recording in HD :P

Yeah. Uncompressed raw HD footage takes up a LOT of space.

However, having an amazing source to work with is simply fantastic! The quality of those videos is unparalleled. Once you're done compressing them down to a slightly lower codec, you can delete the original video files and free up space.

FRAPS is the best ive used so far but im on the lookout for somthing that takes decent quality and isnt such a resource hog.
