Headset

I recently bought a new headset for WoW and CS and DoD... But I can't seem to get it to work for DoD or CS. I know the headset itself works because it works for WoW. But every time I try to use it in DoD it just doesn't work. Any ideas, tips or help?

I would make sure it works through the Microsoft set up first in your control panel. Then I would try it again in DoD. There are also things like turning on Mic Boost you might want to try. So does your headset use the Mic and Speaker Jacks? or USB? I know I have had to fight with USB's more than the jacks.

always only the same basic steps. Get it working with windows voie recorder.
Get it working with steam test from outside game.
Get working inside game.

Please tell us which of these works and which do not.
And tell us if your headset is usp or rca minijack along with what soundcard you have. We cant help without knowing at least a little info.

Hey, It Works fine in Voice recorder but it fails in Steam and ingame.. I am using the Mic and headphone jacks in the front of my comp. where would I fnd my sound card info... I can't seem to locate it in the devices manager.

its probaly because youre soundcard is the standard 1 thats build in 2 youre mobo but i dont know

I don't know why integrated would have any problem with it unless it's and ancient motherboard. I and quite a few of my use integrated and never have problems with the mic. This is probably pretty stupid, but you may make sure that you have it enabled in game. There's a separate section in the in-game settings for voice communication settings.

well then the problem isnt that the mic doesnt work but rather that steam doesnt see it thus never allowing it to be passed to the game application.

You said you were using the mic in the front of your computer, i'm wondering if you are using mic1 or mic2 then, because if your using mic2 the solution is known and easy - source always makes the default recording device mic1 no matter what and you just have to pass it a command line parameter to stop that from happeneing.

in the device manager its under "sound, video, game controllers" (your cound card).
