Hey, I just got a new laptop and was wondering if it was good enough to play TF2, or CS:S. How do I get my specs, I forgot. If you could help then that would be great, thanks!

We'd have to know the specs first before we can tell you if you can or can't.

Control Panel >> System and Security >> Device Manager.

To find your system specs first use the keyboard shortcut WindowsKey-R (or click Start-Menu –> Run on Windows XP).

Then type 'dxdiag' into the window that comes up as shown below:

After that, the following window should appear:

We need to know the following items:
  • From the System tab:
    • Operating System:
    • System Manufacturer:
    • System Model:
    • Processor:
    • Memory:
  • From the Display tab:
    • Device Name:
    • Device Memory:

Post back with this system information as well as the game you are hoping to run, and we'll be glad to help you check how well each game will perform.

If somehow all of that doesn't work, you could always just try the games out lol. It doesn't hurt a bit

Unfortunately, it seems the laptop is running an Integrated Intel GPU. This means that it won't be able to run most modern games. If there was a specific game you were looking to run I could confirm this, but in general I'd say you're pretty much out of luck. :(

EDIT:
It seems that Intel's Integrated GPUs have improved over the years. The above statement was based on previous (apparently old) knowledge.

Depending on what series of Intel HD you are running, you may do pretty well, especially in Source games.

This link shows the average FPS for these GPUs across multiple games - L4D is probably the closest comparison to either TF2 or CS:S:

In the "Model" search box just type in 'Intel HD' and click "Restrict" to see the scores. :)
