I found myself posting what I thought was going to be a short and sweet response but it turned into a threeish paragraph response on my thoughts on Androind and IOS and I thought I would post it here asking for your thoughts and personal experiences.

Well here it is:

Flash games aren't important to me, Flash is a monster that I prefer die. Its just so clunky in some instances it seems HTML 5 is much more efficient. But I will be the first to admit I base this personal opinion on what I've heard from random people and summary's of internet articles and have not really read into it at all. Steam games? I have logged into my steam account intending to play games in.... Once in the past month or two? I don't know honestly, I would be much more content with the numbers of free games provided by apples Itunes app store.

I would be MUCH more tempted by the Xoom if I had hands on with it I believe. I messed with one in Best buy for a few minutes today and was extremely impressed with honeycomb. Its a toss up, if there WIfi version that I read was being released soonish? and was competitively price, it will then come down to the applications and what instances and situations I might need to put it through and if it can efficiently (Or even could) handle the task I put it through. Like navigating network directory's and messing with files over Wifi, or loading camera pictures, etc.

Personally I LOVE apples operating system, and how THEY control the environment, I've noticed some muck in Android with my Incredible and conflicting applications, and stuff running when it shouldn't and general clutter that could be cleaned up in the code to avoid the use of a third party application like task killer or others of the sort. I do believe Android in the coming versions could become a beast in itself, so far the biggest turn off to me is the battery life factor. I do believe there is a lot to be desired with its "Multi-tasking" Feature in the fact that random applications I didn't even start will force themselves to start in the background and take up valuable battery life and resources. I find it annoying that within Five minutes of me turning on my HTC Incredible that I can go into the Advanced task killer and killer 10 Applications that I can not tell to stay off and I don't even use. (City ID, Skype, and assorted others)

One thing I do like about Honeycomb with my three minute first impressions was the fluidness of the home screens, they flow into one other with beautiful animations and it feels like your using something so futuristic, and is extremely responsive to the touch, on the Xoom atleast.

I would also like to hear thoughts from anyone who has messed with the Atrix 4G or Windows Phone 7 on there thoughts.

I/my mother just bought a Xoom today. Pretty epic piece of hardware. After using an ipad for about a month, after a day of the Xoom, i like the Xoom better already. The interface makes way more sense, and is much less cumbersome.

Did you ever try rooting/installing custom rom on your incredible? I get much better batterylife under CM6 than i do under stock 2.2 on my droid1.

I own an ipod touch, purely for the games, since EVERYONE at school has iphone, and are always playing some iOS exclusive title (tiny wings anyone?). I hate iOS with a passion. It is boring, and the forced use of an app store is kinda lame. Also Objective C sucks balls, and is no way similar to pretty much every other language. Android is so much easier to write for.....

For my phone, i use an HTC thunderbolt, which i love right now. The battery life isn't great, but i haven't got around to rooting it yet. 4G LTE=winsauce

What is CM6? And I have been looking into Rooting, but I have yet to find a extremely clear cut spell it out for you turtorial, I am tech savy to some degree and could do it, but I would prefer to have a extremely clearcut turtorial to spell it out for me seeing as this is my primary source of communication. I heard you can use the 3g Hotspot for free if you root? is that true?

I also like the Xoom interface much better just because the android interfaces have always been better to me. The reason I like Apples enclosed environment is because everything works together normally. Everything blends together, on android sometimes that can be a issue. There is something to be said about closed environments, as well as open ones.

I hate when companies always refer to the fact that the iPad can't do flash. They act as if it's a flaw, when it's not, they intentionally left it out for a lot of reasons. Also people seem to forget there is no tablet with real flash on it. Even the moto xoom has no flash because google and motorola haven''t made it work correctly right, saying they will release it in an update. I'm not saying androids bad or anything, I have an eVO. However until theres a competitor with working flash, then no one can saying anything about it.

CM= Cyanogen Mod, a popular android rom

6= version number

Here is a good guide:

If you have any problems, DroidForum is usually very helpful.

@oprah, Xoom has flash now BTW.

oh damn you got the thunderbolt???

LTE is crazyyy, the speeds are ridiculous. Im sure theyre gonna be pretty fast even after the network starts to get crowded. I say it will still get like 8 Mbps down even when LTE becomes more popular.

Battery life is horrid though from what i've read =/ ............ebay extended batteries ftw?

Yea you should root your phone and put Cyanogenmod on it. Im running CM7 (cyanogenmod 7) with gingerbread on my Galaxy S. It's awesome. My favorite thing is turning on and off the screen. The CRT animation is so amusing.

Im waiting for an AT&T LTE phone and dual-core goodness........only thing that wouldve made the Thunderbolt better is dual-core and bigger battery. But HTC build quality is amazing, best in the business for android phones.

I just charge it during Comp Sci class.

Battery is not an issue for me.

<3 LTE

AT&T cant even get their 3G working, by the time they get their LTE started, verizon will have nationwide 5G coverage XD

I have an iPod touch and to be honest, it's a bit of a scam. For example, you can get a 7'' android tablet for about ?20 more. The lack of flash can be crippling on some websites and it is disappointing. Also apple saying how html5 will kill flash is rubbish, the two can cover completely different purposes.
Also iOS is probably not as flexible, with apple constantly trying to clamp down on jailbreak is a pain and android seems so much better.
The idevices are gimmicky and overexpensive.

Good points. The lack of flash would annoy the hell out of me tbh.

Especially since Adobe just rolled out 10.2 for Android. Performs pretty well. Especially on Honeycomb, flash applets just load as they would on a regular computer.

To expand about flash for Android (especially Xoom).

As of 3/18/11, Adobe released Flash 10.2 for Android 2.2 (Froyo) and 2.3 (Gingerbread). For devices on Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), they received only a 10.2 Beta version, whereas Froyo and Gingerbread got the full version. That was the official release by Adobe.

When Xoom released, even though Flash wasn't enabled, in late February, there was a workaround to getting Flash working on the device, which many owners reported as working fine (even if it wasn't an official workaround. Gotta love the tech community for improvisation)

Flash works great on my Xoom, and my TB.

10.2 was a massive upgrade over 10.1

can't really tell how much an upgrade 10.2 was over 10.1 for me. They seemed pretty similar, its more of an upgrade to support tegra 2 processors and dual-core phones.

hahaha 3G works......Atrix 3G doesn't work. I get 3-4 Mbps down on my galaxy s and 1.6 Mbps up. Basically iPhone 4 speeds and semi AT&T (4G) speeds. But its good considering the phone doesn't have the hardware to support the same speeds the Atrix and Inspire should be getting.

AT&T should be getting LTE by this summer =/

If anything, i could just buy an unlocked phone like the Galaxy S II when it comes out and get unlimited data for $10 :scared: save $20 a month lol

Well look at how Adobe supports flash on Macs, They do not care to support it at all. So why would they let flash put their product on the iOS platform? If they can not give a version of flash to Mac OS users that is stable.

The reason that they don't support it on MAC/iOS is because Steve contantly talks crap about flash, so in return, Adobe gives them crap.

No, it's because Flash can't be directly controlled by Apple, and it performs poorly because of that.

Both Phobus and Reflex got the two most popular reasons about why Flash isn't on Apple products. So let's call that a draw..
