Team Stacking on the Avalanche Server

No where in this thread have I seen anyone suggest that players should be "Admined" to change teams. We can all see that wouldn't work nor should it be the solution.

The solution is for skilled players with class to show leadership and switch to the team that is being dominated so that they can have fun too.

Take a hit for EdgeGamers and be a good host.

That being said, what the person stated is generally true, when there's an even number of players on a team they are generally even or will soon even out not only in terms of manpower but in terms of skill. Clearly this was not the case and teams should've been redistrubuted.

Next time you see this happening just let an ego know.

Nobody has outright said that, but the undertone concerned me.

In other thoughts,

I will add, arguing and comparing KDR's in this matter is more often than not a moot point. individual KDR has nothing to do with collective team efforts, teamwork, etc.

My two cents: on nearly every map, the Axis team gets skill stacked. Thus I am usually on Allies or quickly switching to allies. But Skippy is correct, when the allies start rage quitting I expect to see eGO members switching over to help. I mentioned on Anzio last weekend to some es that admins notice when es voluntarily switch to even the teams. When the Axis team was short players (e) Severin and another e switched over . So a shout out to Sev and Sev, please remind me of the other e's name. I did thank them both over all say. Admins and es alike should do this, I find it is the same people switching teams all the time.

Another possible solution is having the map restart more often to shuffle the teams; sometimes skill "stacking" happens randomly. Also, although I do not think it will happen, mandatory autoassign would help..

More frequent restarts would hurt server numbers, especially during "off" hours. While it might help scramble players, theres no point if there are no players to scramble.

As for autobalance, or autoassigning, that aids with the problem of teamstacking, not skillstacking. We already admin for teamstacking and this thread has nothing to do with that issue.

ZOMG! Does everyone write a novel in DoD? sheesh. I was about to write tl;dr and just get on with it.

^^ bringing some laughter into a sensitive subject reminding everyone to relax. :P

Before the argument continues here, I'd like to point out the most important thing here.

Skill Stacking.

Skill stacking does and will exist. And although I believe we control it fairly well on our servers amongst members, we cannot control pubbers.

For example: On Anzio, I regularly ask Xante and/or Bad Brain to switch teams to help the other side.

It's just how it is. We can ask our members to help out, but in no way or form will ANYONE EVER ADMIN Skill Stacking!

^^ That's me being serious. It's horridly unprofessional for admins to post in all chat, "SKILL STACKING! Please SHUFFLE TEAMS!". Don't do it. I will RAGE on you!

With that said, here's the simple answer to this entire thread:

If this situation comes around again and you find yourself in the server on the losing team...

1) Remind yourself that AXIS have the advantage, so it may/may NOT be actual skill stacking/team stacking. Just a mere consequence of the map.
2) Politely use admin chat to ask members/admins to come to the losing team. If you're an e member, press your team chat button then the @ sign to use admin chat.
3) Never RAGE in public chat.
4) Come on VENTRILO and many members will help by going into the server and helping your team out!
5) Be a Leader! Every map (almost) has several ways around/out. USE THEM! Be a leader of your team. Direct your teammates, encourage them to fight harder, and more importantly, even if your back is against the wall, keep on fighting!

Thank you for taking the time to read. :P

I have been playing Ava for some time now and join the team which has less player's, normally Allie's, Allies lose repeated ly as the first rush ends with half of Allies camping theiir first flag, which is the wrong thing to do, I try to tell them but 9 times ouy of 10 they dont listen and we lose, I believe Allies must knock out the Axis mg on their first flag and keep them off, when the Allies do this we win. The balcony controls the whole map stopping Allies getting to church and keeping them in the bar room. next time you play Ava try this and see it work, happy playing .

True story. I have played mucho Ava and 95% of the time the Allies simply refuse to push anywhere. A few will go into the church...but they stop at the tower. A bunch go apartments...but just chill in them. The main problem is that whole "let's just sit here and keep them from taking our first" mentality that so many take.

Well I hope people take notice of this thread because it happens a bunch. Especially on Ava because the map is just made for German camping.

But too shed some light on this...

This pic was taken earlier today. Germans rolled Americans about 7 games straight. People started to rage quit on Allies and teams became uneven by about 4 players. Well admins seeing this called for teams to be evened out. Well another 3 quick victory's by the Germans and yet teams still stayed the same... Well teams never evened out. There was a 2-4 man difference the whole time I was on the server.

Well I could of switched my self over but I wanted to see how the situation would pan out and was saddened to see what unfolded.
I hid the names as I don't want to shame anyone but what you don't see is that there was not just one admin on German but 3 admins... Two being O's.

The rest were all pubs including my self besides the 2 e's

I just hope that the pubs who rage quit because of this will come back and have a better experience on eGO servers.

Yep I was on earlier today too and the same thing was going on. I can understand Snipers and MG's getting high k/d ratios but when you are absolutely rolling the other team and people are obviously quitting because they are sick of losing it's time for to more experienced players and clan members to step it up and help the allies out. This stacking has seemed to become more of an issue this week than it ever has in the past for me. I have never really had a bad experience playing avalanche before and now I find myself not really wanting to play it.

You have people that just seem to refuse to play as the Allies and who sit on the axis side for hours at a time. While some people try to do the objectives you have others sitting back and doing nothing but killing. BoD Main was on early this morning and once again was in the 40-50 kills with less than 10 deaths range and the only thing he did the entirety of the time was snipe. Not trying to bash on the guy, he's got mad skills, but please man up and join the other team for once.

I almost wish there was a way to have a time limit on snipers and mgs, or perhaps you could only die so many times before being forced to play as another class type. There are too many of these guys that will sit there for 2 hours playing as a sniper, or machine gunner laying back and killing people instead of moving up and pressing the objectives to help the team. These guys make it difficult to play the allied side because the just sit and scope out the chokepoints and entryways and keep going back to their same camping spots.

Silly things like this can be simply fixed by admins actually doing their jobs and making the server fun and fair for all. I constantly switch sides while playing on all the servers we have and still people dont even try and help the uneven teams it is always me.

I'm pretty sure that I was one of the two "O's" you describe on the right, and as I recall this imbalance lasted about 1 maybe 2 minutes. This was also about 10-11 PM on a Tuesday night During this imbalance several Axis players capped out quite quickly. This was mainly due to Allied using the apartments, and not covering the center rush.

It's an imperfect map. I have witnessed more times that I can count where people will start chatting about teams, and within 1 minutes they seem to balance all on their own without me having to do anything. I let the game autobalance itself which I have seen work on multiple occasions. I'm in the game to play as well, and don't want to spend all my game playing "Admin". I deal with issues that require immediate response, and other that that I watch and see and then Admin when needed. I've switched sides more times than I can count, and think that a single snapshot (screenshot) in time of a moment when the teams were imbalanced and two "O's" were on the strong side is not telling the whole story. What happened 2 seconds later... or 5 seconds after that?

This reminds me of the time I beat up my brother to raise awareness for domestic violence.

That might have been the case last night, it was not the case the day before when I played. I played for a good 30-45 minutes of the teams being uneven, and the axis team being stacked with skill players. I think we all understand it's an imperfect map but that doesn't change the fact that we had clan members stacking the axis side and not bothering to switch over.

I just got done playing avalanche and had a blast. When the teams even out and it's a good even struggle then the map is fun. But when people pick axis because it's the easiest side, and then sit there and not capture flags, and camp it's not a whole lot of fun.

I try and not bash anyone on the forms. That is why I never say names...

But I'm not the face of eGO any more. I'm just a nameless pub. When people come to the servers and see eGO team stack be it a e or a O it's Edgegamers name that is dragged through the mud. It sets a bad example to what this clan was about.

LIES!!!! LOL!!!! :chair:

Heres the deal. The game is competitive and skill based.

Thank you captain of the U.S.S Obvious. That's not the topic of discussion. The topic is people deliberately either joining, or staying on the team that is rolling the opposing force and refusing to help balance things out so they can inflate their scores.

How do we get better if we're not put up against someone who's better then us?
