Flash

This map has not been able to fill for sometime now. We need to change this or it will end up like kalt did but that is unacceptable!

Back in the day we had the flash crew but now only half are here but not on and playing not much, so the server is now dead a lot. Not many people like this map for some reason but this is the only map that keeps me a part of the Day of Defeat source Division.

My Views on the other map are

1) Avalanche- Don't like it! One sided most of the time in favor of the axis. Can hardly get a positive k/d and do not find much fun but when needs filling i do it.

2) Anzio - Its OK some what. Axis favor and mostly get killed by campers. That is what turns me away from the map. I fill it when asked too.

3) Strand - Its good. Never play it much have nothing bad to say.

4) Donnor- Great map! Really enjoyable when people in vent are on and playing.

5) Kalt - Great map! Sewer rat here and there but it lacks the old days.

6) Flash - Awesome! Where all the misfits went too and always had a odd conversation. Most people have left the map for other games or not willing to fill it up. Its in SOS mode (Save our server)

7) Events server - Awesome when we have events.

The problem

I see we get new recruits then where are they? I only see the regulars! Why do we have 30,000 + eGO members yet our servers are never full? Why does it take at least 1 hour to get 6 people on one map? Why are we here?

The fix

1) Recruit more people on servers that lack in players. Get good enough to join then it will be easy to reinforce. ( I do not recruit because i do not like it.)

2) Pay eGO members for good deeds.

3) When you see a server empty or low on people invite people to join up.

4) Bug the hell out of leadership for steam messages!

These are simple things but yet they are not done. I will make it a goal that if i see flash not filled with 1 person i am going to spam people. Now this may piss people off but i do not care someone has to do it so why not me?

We will do this. Even if you do not like this map i do not care i play on maps i do not care for what makes you better then me? We need to bring back this game to its strength! I hear from older members when ALL the servers were full! It is possible but we need that spirit, the spark back.

Also, if I'm online (and not busy), hit me up and I'll definitely jump in and play for awhile. My heart lives on Avalanche and Kalt, but I would be up for some Flash or Donner, or even the Sniper map in the snow, I used to play the crap out of that map!

Ye, I joined eGO while I was playing Flash, its my Favorite map for sure. Maybe we can have a "fill-server-up" team. Just a group on steam, and if they get a message from the leaders of that group, they have to and must come to flash (or another server we want to fill up), know what i mean?

Good Idea Blackbird I'm all in for that. I don't love flash mostly because of all the nades but it is fun to play when you've got some real teamwork!

What about I put that idea in the drop box and see what leadership thinks? Make a group with people who are really willing to help fill some empty servers. Only 7 people or more are enough to get a server running. So if we have a group, with at least 7+ players who willing to participate fill a server. We have a nice thing going on

Hey, I'm not a fan of flash but i've been playing it when called recently c-whit has been calling for it fairly frequently. One other thing i'm concerned about is that anzio has also been suffering by being completely empty at odded times for it to be empy.

Ps. also recruited a player on flash that's been playing flash when it's full.

Yeah I got home from school yesterday and there was one pub on Flash....and he was AFK So I hopped on and shot some messages to some of my friends and got on Vent to see if I could get some people in there! I even messaged my lil bro to hop on and seed it for you and he isnt even in eGO! I think at one point we had about 13 or so but it died out again! I am trying to fill up Flash/Anzio or wherever needs help now.

Why have an official group for only flash? That doesn't make much sense guys. Everyone should be part of the DoD:S Steam Group! I send out messages when servers are empty to help it out. I've been on flash frequently lately getting it going. And as many of you who have answered the call find out, after 20 min or so, the server starts to fill itself. That's all it takes.

Now, I realize everyone is going through this weird Kalt High. Which is fine. But please please please remember that we have other servers that also need love. Help fill them, keeping them full, and most importantly making sure everyone in those servers are having fun so they all return.

For all you recruiters: Flash/Anzio/Kalt seem to be a BREEDING ground of new recruits! Lots and Lots of pubbers when they're full. Let's get in them and start recruiting!

Also, with the suggestion of death_keeper, we'll be having random nights on ventrilo where we get together and start filling servers. So keep your eyes open for steam announcements!

That would be awesome! We could call it the "Seed Team" or something...maybe put a little {S} at the end of your name!

I, for one, am going to keep playing Kalt, Kalt, and then more Kalt until it is Top 20...because when Anzio and Colmar came, all of the Kalt regulars tried to give them a chance and get them going--completely unaware that Kalt was falling fast enough for it's unannounced and seemingly-sudden departure.

Steam messages in general are getting to be too much. We send them too often. The plain old fact is that our community is only so large and can only support so many servers, this can be said for the DoDS community in general. The focus has been on Kalt, that does not mean we need to spam messages for Flash because all that does is take players away from other servers.

Spread the love guys. Kalt has had a strong showing but it cannot be to the full detriment of our other servers, keep that in mind.

No that means you do. I spent 4 hours today playing on flash and it never became full only half filled...its better then nothing

Like Ron said, the Steam messages are starting to get a little bit irritating; when I can't play a full round of BC2 without seeing 2 or three, it's a bit excessive.

We had a seeding team, that's nothing new, but as soon as everyone got the "Server Starter" award, they quit doing it, which is entirely unsurprising to me, somehow. What everyone needs to recognize is that awards DO NOT GET YOU PROMOTED. Yes, other divisions give some out like candy, and I'm not really in favor of that at all. We give them out less frequently because it means that the recipient is doing a solid, consistent job in this community.

How did I fill Avalanche from 0 to 29 last night in 1 hour? Because as an experiment, I put up a Steam message titled "Want a prize? Get in Avalanche!" and everyone showed up for it. (Speaking of which, Gordon Freeman got promoted to eG, and I took names for potential awards.) But that's not how this is supposed to work.

Addressing the original points:

1) Recruiting...obviously. Everyone should at least try with a general announcement in server or something.

2) "Pay eGO members for good deeds." ...I'll pay you after I get paid

3) Again, I think this should be obvious.

4) Incessantly bugging leadership members to put up announcements for your favorite server will unfortunately only lead to you being removed from friends lists. Sad but true.
