How many of you are interested in joining the military?

I ask this because currently I am doing a study on eGO about the population of gamers and how the games they offer influence the gamers lives and their career decisions. Sort of like a correlation, you know?

Basically, I want you to tell me if you either:

a) Want to to join the military and what branch

b) If you are ALREADY in the service and what branch

c) or either you do not want to join the military and why

If you could mostly participate, that would be awesome! Thanks!

As for me though, I would like to be an officer in the United States Air Force. But most likely considering populations in the air force, the United states Army is also a good alternative. During the year of 2010, I was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps but could not go because of shin splints. So currently, I am attending a junior college in the heart of North Carolina and hoping to transfer to East Carolina University thereafter.

Working on trying to get into the Air Force Reserves. Have a friend from church whos gonna help me on my upper body so I can get conditioned better to be able to run 1 1/2 miles. That & the ASVAB are all thats holding me back.

I hope you aren't stressed about the ASVAB or anything. That thing was SO easy. I think the only real downside was that it was tedious. But you're wanting to enlist right? Man, getting processed is a fun ride. Lol.

If your idea of fun is going to MEPS at 5am and saying no to every question asked, then sure. :-D

Oh God, you have no idea. I got yelled at by this HUGE black guy in the marines. I lol'd about it later, but at the time, I was like," I'm two seconds from being smooshed." The only part I really didn't like was getting my blood taken. My veins have the habit of hiding at the mere mention of BLOOD TEST. So this cantankerous woman took blood from my hand, which then sent me into almost passing out. She made me go lay down in a room and this is how I managed to take a nap in the MEPS

All these girls had problems with peeing in a cup. I didn't see the big deal. Lol.

Another friend of mine might join the Navy too.

Ya im a big wimp when it comes to blood tests. I cant even watch a needle go into my veins (or anyone elses body for that matter).

I do want to make a distinction though that I have the utmost respect for those who have chosen to serve their country. That is a great service and commitment and is too often under appreciated.

I am willing to talk about why military service was not for me but not here or publicly. If you really want to know for your research you'll have to shoot me a PM.

The branch you pick isn't going to give you less of a chance of going to war. Before I made my exit from the military, I was in the national guard and my unit was deploying soon. I was always told before I signed up that the national guard stayed at home. Their purpose was to serve in the NATION and not go anywhere outside of the US. Although, I found out how wrong that statement was.
