So I have $30 and I'm looking to buy a new game. Any suggestions/recommendations?

A couple days ago I (finally) received the mail-in rebate for one of my computer components I bought. I've got $30 now that I'm considering spending on a new game. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I'm mostly into first-person shooters, but if you've got a game that you absolutely love, please feel free to recommend it to me here. A short summary of what you do and don't like about it (why is it fun or worth getting, etc.) would be appreciated as well, as that will better help me to decide what game would be best to buy, but I won't be angry if you don't provide one

Borderlands? It's actually on sale for today. It's a really fun game, and I would consider it worth more than it is right now ($7.50 for the GotY Edition which includes all the DLC)

What do I like? It lasts a really long time, especially with the DLC. Consider that you go through the story and all the DLC, twice, with four characters who all have slightly different gameplay. It's also rather good at putting RPG elements into a first person shooter.

What do I not like? Once you do everything, you have done everything. That will take a long time, but there is nothing left but farming for gear after that.

Also, Minecraft.

Metro 2033 is rather hard, but it's very enjoyable. Same goes for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl.
Shattered Horizon just got an update I have yet to check out, but it's probably the lowest on my list of recommendations.

Well just a suggestion. Amnesia is on sale at Steam for 9.99 and Killing Floor is on sale with the Killing Floor bundle for 13.97 (or just the base game for 9.99).

Borderlands is 75% for the GOTY edition - that's 7.50.

BF2 is still a widely played game that I'd still recommend to this day, especially since that garbage play4free came out.

But I suggest looking around on Steam and see their current sales and possibly some other places as well since it seems right now your money could go quite far.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm thinking about getting Borderlands Game of the Year - Four Pack so I can sell a copy to my friend, since he currently has no money to spend on Steam games. Sound like a good idea?

ImDead and I were lamenting the fact that he just bought Borderlands a week or two ago, and it's now more than half off the price he paid for it. Borderlands gets my vote!

P.S. I'm tempted to bu the GOTY edition too just to get all 4 DLCs.

You are missing out, my friend. I'm playing co-op now with ImDead, having already beat it once before (over a year ago). We're playing new characters, and having fun running over skags and setting bandits on fire.
