One of the things I like most is Lasagna!

emsp21_1_2_3_lasagna_e.jpg

I have tried many recipes that are not bad, but I wanted
a recipe that would approximate some of the best
Lasagna I've ever eaten in a restaurant.

So [link=http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_16577,00.html]here[/link] it is, the best recipe I've found so far.

Yes, all that cheese won't make you look thinner.
Yes, this recipe is not economic at all ($/person).
But you'll forget about that once you've tasted it!

Got some awesome Lasagna recipe for me?
Please post it here and I will try it :)

Quesadillas:
2 chicken breasts
1 can of cheddar cheese sause
1/4 cup salsa
cooked rice
tortillas

Cut up some chicken breast and cook in a pan until thoroughly cooked.
Cook rice. Add cheese sause and salsa until warmed.
Add in rice.

Put the mixture onto tortillas on a cookie sheet and bake at 325 until the edges start to brown. only a few minutes really. Sounds complicated but is really fast and great to eat.

Doing my part to revive this one too :-)

J?gerschnitzle

8 thin sliced, boneless pork chops
1 8oz can mushrooms
3 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 medium onion, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 beef bullion cube
1 1/3c water
1/2c sour cream
1T cornstarch
Flour for dredging
Oil for frying

In a medium frying pan, heat oil to temperature. Dredge pork chops in flour, fry until golden. Remove from pan, keep warm. Drain oil from pan.

Over medium-high heat, fry bacon until crispy. Reduce heat to medium. Add onion and garlic, cook until tender. Add mushrooms (including water inside the can) and simmer for 5 minutes. In the meantime, dissolve bullion cube in 1 1/3c water. After 5 minutes, add beef broth to pan, simmer for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, mix sour cream with corn starch, add to pan and mix thoroughly. Keep warm, but do not boil, as it will burn the sour cream. Serve over two warm pork chops.

Makes 4 servings.

Mexican creamed corn:

1/2 yellow onion
3/2 cup fresh or frozen (thawed) corn kernels
1 cup sour cream
2 large Poblano chiles
2 tbsp olive oil

Char poblanos over open gas fire. Set in bowl, cover with plastic wrap, leave for 10 minutes. Remove poblanos and seed and cut into strips. Cook onion (cut into strips) in oil for approx. 5 min or until soft. Add corn and poblanos and cook for approx. 2 min or until corn is tender. Stir in sour cream and keep warm.

HOT SAUCE:
NOTE: this recipe has no measurements. you may use green if you want.

Red jalapeno peppers
Red serrano peppers
Red habanero peppers (optional)
1/4 white onion, cut into large strips
Distilled white vinegar (you may need a lot of this)

Remove stems and tops from peppers. You may seed them if you want. Cut in halves or quarters, depending on how large each pepper is. Place peppers in a medium saucepan along with onions and add vinegar to ALMOST cover. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove onion if desired. Let cool for around 15 minutes. Blend vinegar, peppers and onion (if not removed) until desired consistency. You can strain if you want.

I just realized NinjaFluff is a known necromancer, I'm in the Mages Guild so this may be an issue >.>

NinjaFluff's (nearly) world-famous marinara sauce!

1 15oz can of tomato sauce
1T dried basil
1T dried oregano
1t ground thyme
1t onion powder
2 cloves minced garlic
3 bay leaves
1t fresh ground black pepper
1/2c white pepper
(optional) 1/4lb browned hamburger

Simple, yet sooo good! Combine all ingredients in a saucepan, simmer at least 20 minutes. The longer it's simmered, the better it is.

Can be used for spaghetti sauce (with the meat), pizza sauce (without the meat), or even as lasagna sauce (2x meat).

Alright, here's one that I actually have a recipe for. It's pretty simple, but I'm gonna try to put some more up in the near future. This one is for Saltine Cracker Cookies.

Ingredients:
Enough Saltine crackers to cover the bottom of a cookie sheet.
1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 cup brown sugar
1 12 oz. package of chocolate chips.
1 cup chopped nuts

Cover a cookie sheet (approx. 11" x 17") with crackers. Then boil the butter and brown sugar in a pot. Once they have boiled for about three minutes, pour them over the crackers and back for about five minutes on 350. Take them out, press down the crackers that have risen, then sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly. As they melt, spread them with a knife being careful not to disturb the caramel topping. Then sprinkle the nuts evenly. Let cool and then break into pieces.

Also, a little bit of advice, these go great in the refrigerator or freezer, and you can put them in there after you are done making them. They cool faster and are easier to break that way.

what's the point? in the future meals will come in pill sized form and the world will be ruled by DAMN DIRTY APES

Well, you can have the pills Goretex. However, I prefer work, flavor, and satisfaction. :D

Jambalaya (modified Emeril recipe):

Creole seasoning
Olive oil
1/2lb smoked sausage (or 1/4lb smoked sausage, 1/4lb andouille sausage), diced
2 chicken breasts, diced
1 package salad shrimp
1 green bell pepper
3 stalks celery
1 medium onion
4 cloves garlic
2t freshly ground black pepper
1t white pepper
3 bay leaves
2 square boxes of Swanson (or the like) chicken broth
1 1/2c rice
green onions as garnish
Cayenne pepper (optional)

One-pot dinner, yay!

Over medium heat, place 2T olive oil in the bottom of a pot, add shrimp and season well with creole seasoning. Cook until almost done, 3 minutes should do it. Remove, set aside. Add sausage, more creole seasoning, cook until browned. Remove, set aside. Add chicken, season with creole seasoning, cook until browned. Remove and set aside. Add onion, celery, green pepper, black pepper, white pepper, optional cayenne, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are soft and onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.

Return sausage and chicken to the pot, add the chicken stock and bay leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Add rice, boil for additional 20 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat, and return shrimp to pot. Residual heat will finish cooking the shrimp. Remove bay leaves, and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Creole seasoning for the Jambalaya:

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried thyme

Combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Creme Brulee:

1 quart heavy cream
1 cup sugar, divided
6 large egg yolks
1t vanilla extract (optional)
2T chocolate syrup (optional)

Combine egg yolks and 1/2c sugar. Whisk well. While whisking, slowly introduce heavy cream until it has all been added. Mixture should be very pale yellow, and will have many bubbles. Strain through a fine mesh strainer. For a vanilla flavor, add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mix well again. For chocolate flavored creme brulee (which is quite good!), add the chocolate syrup and mix well. Mixture will look like light chocolate milk. Divide mixture evenly between 6 ramekins (7-8 ounce size).

Meanwhile, bring 2 quarts of water to a boil and preheat oven to 325. Place ramekins in a shallow pan, and pour boiling water AROUND them, halfway up the sides of the ramekins to make a hot water bath. Bake until set, about 40-45 minutes. It will still wiggle, especially in the middle, but it will be done. Remove from the water bath and place into refrigerator for AT LEAST 4 hours, and up to 3 days.

And now, the fun part...

Remove from fridge 30 minutes before serving. Divide the remaining 1/2 cup sugar between the ramekins, sprinkling evenly across the top of them. Using a butane torch, slowly melt the sugar to form a crunchy shell, but be careful because the sugar will burn quickly. Let sit for 5 minutes, top with sliced strawberries.

Chicken Cordon Bleu

4 boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
1 lb thinly sliced ham
1 lb sliced swiss cheese
1 teaspoon tarragon
3 eggs
2 cups italian bread crumbs
toothpicks

One at a time, place a chicken breast into a zip-loc freezer bag. Press out as much air as possible, then seal. Pound the chicken breast until 1/4" thick using the side of a meat mallet, or perhaps a rolling pin.

Slice ham and swiss cheese into strips 1/2" wide. In a bowl, combine swiss cheese, ham, tarragon, and 1/4 c italian bread crumbs. Mix well. Divide mixture evenly into 4 parts, and place into the middle of the flattened chicken breasts. Bring edges of chicken breasts up to meet, quite like a taco, and secure with toothpicks to hold everything in place. Whisk eggs in a shallow pan or pie tin, and place remaining 1 3/4 cup bread crumbs into another shallow pan or pie tin.

Roll chicken in the egg, then roll in the bread crumbs. From here, I recommend deep frying, as it does the best job. 5-7 minutes each.

Prep time: 30-40 minutes, cooking time: 20-30 minutes
