TF2: The Replay Update

There isn't much in this that excites me, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun, especially for our media team. Thanks for the update, Ducttape!
 
So far so good, my HUD didn't even break!

EDIT: all my old demos on the other hand..

ZOMG ZOMG! Epic! I can actually use this! Not the best update ever, but this will be very helpful with the TF2 division trailer. Which by the way, I should mention in another post :P
 
How are the servers that support this feature determined? A cursory examination of most servers last night revealed that a fraction of them ran this, and that was not even assessing their ping.

I'm just saying there would be easily enough footage on Blackmesa to win all twenty categories if this feature worked on that server.

Its determined by the server owners, server owners can choose to run the feature or not. As of current, eGO is not running it, but we are working on getting it setup ASAP.

We'll keep you informed, and hopefully it will be up this weekend, but we have yet to find out how much memory or bandwidth it will use on our FTP while we're running 6 servers recording. We'll keep you guys informed on its status!

If I'm understanding it right, '...you can press P at any time and you will save of video of your current life, OR (the server keeps a playback of your previous life on tap) you can press 'P' after death (and still in respawn) to save a recording of your previous life.

This seems like a LOT of overhead to put on a server.

Apparently if you downgrade the game (don't know how to do this) then your old demo's will work.


This is an update I am actually excited about and I haven't been in such a long time! I just wish it wasn't as soon as my exams started!!!!!

[Edit] This is basically demo smoother but a lot simpler and easier to use.
