Maybe one of you older guys could do a history of FPSX thing.
Like, how the division came to be.
I remember the Insurgency Division times; then the change to MOD and FPSX.
But, before... maybe one of the old timers (ehe) of the division could do a timeline or something!

Rules:
1) Info can't be from Darth.

Well what happened was a few guys from TF2 division decided they wanted to be rebels so they started playing INS.

From this the players (some leaders) drugged council and forced them to make a division. Since it became a division tf2 lost some very special people which then left eGO alltogether.

After that they got new leaders and changed the name to MOD.

After this they got bored of MOD games and decided they wanted to expand into all FPS games. After weeks of debating a name Artimus decided on FPS:X.

^ There you go, a full history.

Well,i remember that there used to be alot of activity in INS Division, there was boot camp by SCSwat, some scrim event and we even had weekly activity, couldn't really remember. There was so much to do in INS,then 1 year later when i came back,it became FPSX lol...

LOL, what would you define by "old guys"? I've been here for a year and a half, so I could add a little timeline from what I recall.

When I joined:

The Insurgency Division was one of the most interesting divisions I came across as a e, most of the members knew each other and played together in such a cohesive group and they were all great friends with each other. It seemed like everyone was happy and glad we had an INS division, for there were many people who played it.

As the month's started going by, I saw a decrease in the amount of people in the division. Some left eGO, others went to different divisions. Insurgency was starting to fumble in numbers. Then it came to Council to decide what they should do, and the idea came up for a Mod division. When it was announced the INS Division would turn into Mod they listed 2 additional games to be added on into this new division. Those games where Resistance and Liberation, and Firearms: Source, and they would be joined with INS. At first we had a huge following for these games, many people where excited to see a rejuvenated Division and had many new hopes and ideas with these games, after the initial change though, soon both games started to get a little down because of our lack of recruiting. We decided to take Firearms: Source out, and replace it with Pirates, Vikings, and Knights. For me personally, I didn't really enjoy the game. We also decided to add Darkest Hour, and WW2 mod for Red Orchestra to the division (kind of like R&L but more fun imo) and the events where VERY fun for that game.

After we had that installed, I think the Division's Leadership decided that we would need to evolve into something more unique, to test new games in the future. Then an idea came up for all of the FPS games coming out this year. If there was a division dedicated to testing out new FPS games, if they found the game extremely satisfactory, maybe with support it could become it's own division in the future. Then it was decided that the Mod Division would be changed to the FPS:X (First Person Shooter: Xperimental) division. With the upcoming release of Crysis 2, I think people really thought this was going to be it. After release though, it also appeared to falter.

All of this time, trying to find the right game and fit for us, we still had Darkest Hour, and Insurgency but we needed to find that one game that could really help us with recruiting numbers. We found Killing Floor. Killing Floor was a Zombie-Horror FPS released by Tripwire Interactive (The guys who made Red Orchestra: Ostfront), and it had a relatively large community of gamers. We experimented with a few servers, and found out we had a large positive response to it. As of know, I think we get most of our recruits from either Insurgency or Killing Floor. I think Killing Floor was a great fit for us, and in the future things look very promising for the division.

This was from my own recollection of things, if you read it all I hope you enjoyed it :)

We used to be insurgency for a long time. Then the mods RnL and FA:S came into the picture when people started posting threads about them. Before the switch, long ago, we had a RnL server (To give you an example of how long ago it was months before caffeine left), sadly at this time the mod was losing some life it had. While we kept a server for an update or two the first one broke the game for me. Then we switched to mod got into FA:S a person ported a map or two, our involvement in it died semi quickly and PVKII. PVKII is a unique mod, it was pretty new but many of us played it a lot. So we got a server for awhile, then we added it to one of the subforums we had. These games started to die quickly, then awhile later we got a RO:DH server in preperation for RO2, this stayed with us for quite awhile and we all played it a lot, i think we had an event or two. Now the servers are closed I think I still play it from time to time. While we had RO we took on crysis, it failed end of story. Now we have Killing floor which is great.

How we got our names

MOD - A switch needed so we could support all the games we played, which then all of them failed

FPSX - No one could agree on a name/ Deathblade turned the thread into a 'INS revolution thread' saying it wouldn't stand for the name but for our something..... so some council member came up with FPSX. The X being Experimental for going into new games and now we are here. Poof

Damnit oberst you got to it first.
