Anyway! I can finally play a game now!

Yeah, i had a similar issues Smexy. Luckily its an easy fix. just don't instal Physyx update and you're golden.

I tried that and it didn't solve my current issue with the latest drivers.

I've been using GeForce Driver v275.27 BETA ever since it came out 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday after taking an hour break from BC2...i launched the game again and it froze for a few seconds on the loading screen right before the opening cinematics before the main menu and BOOOOOOM. nv4_disp.dll stopped working. The colors on the screen were messed up as if there wasn't any graphics card/driver installed.

SO i thought to myself....Maybe just maybe my gtx295 died.

So i uninstalled it and reinstalled it in safe mode. And the default driver install which i'm using right now is 182.42. They don't even post it up on the nvidia site anymore thats how old this driver is. I rebooted to normal windows after the reinstall and ran BC2.............and it worked FINE.

So then i tried all the drivers from 256 beta all the way up to the newest driver(275.33) and none of them seem to work. BC2 freezes when its at the black screen right before the cinematic. After that comes either 1. a nv4_disp.dll stopped responding which closes BC2 and the colors get messed up at desktop or 2. a blue screen of death with some nv4_disp.dll inifite loop syndrome. <--- Similar to the issue with flash and youtube videos that many other people are experiencing from the start of the 270 driver lineup.

If my gtx295(running on xpSP3) suddenly doesn't work properly on the new drivers... HOW is it running perfectly fine on the aged 182.42 driver? :glare:

Trickery to get people to get out of their houses and get a new graphics card thinking that their current one just died but really it has not? :angry:

Well people was complaining about ATI/AMD Drivers are a pain etc... but seems like now NVIDIA is having major issues with the drivers... I think the problem is simple, NVIDIA is focusing too much on mobile processors that's bad for all of us...

I spent a good 30 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling my ATI drivers yesterday and it's something I feel like I do once a month with this computer. So I guess each company has its issues.

i have 2 gtx 260 core 216's and i only use the 267.24 drivers for BC2 i use newer ones for dragon age 2 tho, but those drivers work just fine in BC2, i dont use the newer ones for BC2 because for some reason my screen rapidly flashes black over and over while playing.

i think it kinda has to do with nvidia kinda abandoning support for the gtx 200 series driverwise

no worries tho! ill be upgrading to 2 gtx 560Ti's or 2 gtx 570's over the summer

Now Krod Mandoon about the black screens flash during game play, I think you have set your "BOOM" from true to false.
your game setting notepad is located in your Documents\BFBC2 folder
Now when I set mine up the way I wanted I went to the setting properties and set the Attributes to Read-Only so they would not automatic change back when you log into the game

oh i dont get the black screen flashing unless i use one of the newer drivers with BC2, which is what i dont do anymore, its not BC2 settings its driver issues. but its only with the drivers that i use for dragon age 2, when i play BC2 i switch to older ones that dont do that; so its a non-issue for me

also its not my "bloom" setting its always on i dont mess with the settings in the folder i just use the ingame ones since i dont have framerate issues causing me to need advanced control of the settings. and my bloom setting is always on

I've been hearing a lot of talk about 560s > 570s when it all comes down to dollar worth.... What do you think guys?

Also thanks for the posts guys i'm sticking to my ancient nvidia driver until they literally "WAKE UP" their driver support.

well price vs. performance ratio for 2x 560's would probably be more enticing to some people because 2x 570's would cost on average about $200 more for maybe 10-20 fps difference which is not always worth it when you could buy a video card with that same fps difference in a year for less
