I don't know. BF3 seems to be the buzz right now. Nintendo needs to seriously impress to get back into the hearts of gamers.

Agreed, however you might have missed the part where BF3 will be on the new wii u (I won't get it on that of course lol) But, HD graphics will be an awesome new add on, and I want to play the new Zelda GAME.

This thing is disgusting. Seems like a cheap ploy to sell much more expensive controllers just because they have a screen on it.
I haven't heard pricing yet, either on the console or the individual controllers (I'm assuming the console will only ship w/1 controller).
Also making the huge assumption that Nintendo will offer a non-screen controller (as in plain controller) option for people who don't want to hold that mammoth thing for extended periods of time. Is it OK to assume that, for most games, the controller screen will offer the same functionality that the lower screen offers on the DS? General info, stats, maybe a map, etc...info that's nice to have, but not vital to gameplay.
Didn't see the shoulder buttons on the new controller, either; kinda hard to imagine playing a FPS (or any game) without those...

I just got my inet connection back up. Literally went down right at the end of the symphony zelda stuff grrr. Anyway saw the graphics. While they are better than Wii they are not even close to 360 or PS3 levels. If they are going after core gamers with this I didn't see anything that would make me get arkham city or anything like that on this console over the other next gen consoles. But they have a year to perfect it so we will see if they come up with some kind of use for the controller to add to the experience or this will not be a core gamer system. So I am a little pessimistic on WiiU but see a little slight glimmer if they execute the actual release right that it may work out. On the other side of the coin that is this conference this is the first time that I have actually thought. "Hmm, maybe I do need to grab a 3ds"

There is not a snowflake's chance in hell that controller is going to come cheap.
LCD monitors are almost always the most expensive component of any electronic device that includes them (cell phones, laptops, etc).

I don't think the WiiU is touchscreen enabled, much less multitouch, so that should make it cheaper than what you'd expect to pay for if it was (tablets).

Its not a multitouch screen. I also think I read somewhere it has that click back effect like the blackberry storm or something like that.
Nintendo comes last in my book.
1)5 years too late to the HD scene.
2)Awkward pointless new controller
3)No new imaginative titles still riding the Mario/Zelda/Metroid franchises into the ground.
4)Games for hardcore players are already out on other systems or being brought over. Nothing new or imaginative.
5)Battery life for 3DS sucks
6)Starfox game is a remake instead of a new title and its only on handheld.
7)Still no answer for the PSN or Live

1. Yup, doesn't mean it won't be a good gaming console.
2. Maybe, but I can also see it working out. Need to use it first hand to make a verdict. How well the developers utilize the controller will make or break it.
3. Yup, but Zelda games are still damn good imo, and hopefully 3rd party games will make up for the lack of good Nintendo titles.
4. True, but most PC games these days aren't all that innovative either imo (same old thing with new graphics and a few twists) yet I still find them enjoyable. Again, how well the developers utilize the controller will be big.
7. Yes, Nintendo NEEDS to have a good XBL/PSN alternative if they want the new console to succeed. I'm sure they are planning it, hopefully it's good.

1) Who cares? There have been great gorgeous games on the Wii that I certainly have enjoyed. I still play NES games on my Virtual Console.
2) It demonstrates functionality and will be the centerpiece for new innovative 4 player gaming. It screams a new 4 Swords game to me.
3) If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've yet to play a bad Zelda/Mario/Metroid game.
4) They don't really make games for hardcore gamers anymore, they are catering to a family experience. I will give this one to you though because the downside is only 1st party games will be good, just like with the Wii.
5) 3DS has been out for awhile now, why bring that up here? They put 3D on a handheld without the glasses. That's incredible.
6) Fair enough, some like 3D remakes, some don't. If I had money to buy a 3DS I would be more excited about this and Ocarina of Time 3D.
7) Yeah I agree with that too. Seeing how they cater more to the immediate living room experience I am guessing they won't improve this, but I do hope I'm wrong.
Overall there is much to be excited about...but we haven't heard price yet.
EDIT: I'm not saying this to be argumentative, rather my attempt is to be objective and hopefully counter-point some of those with a different perspective. Although I will be the first to admit there is definitely some fanboy in me so I have no problem admitting bias.

But as I said in the other thread about the WiiU I just cant see the majority of Wii owners and the main ones who gave it such success (Families/Children) running out to get a whole new console just for HD support.
I really think Wii U will be a reverse Sega 32X blunder. 32X should have been a standalone console and not an addition to the Genesis. This should have been an addition to the Wii and not a standalone console. But it all depends on price. I think if Nintendo expects all its original Wii users to convert over they will have to price it below the original Wii. Or atleast below its original market price when it first hit shelves.
