Did you guys see all that sweet stuff on TOR during E3? They are going to make this game way better than WoW

Well seeing as theres more Star Wars fans than WoW fans its not unreasonable to think that they will reasonably succeed.

This is the game Star Wars fans have been waiting for. With the freedom they will have with the story (A long long time ago from the movies we grew up with) this game can be very successful.

I can't wait.

Before i clicked on this post... i was like 'wtf is a Tor?' :(

I too can't wait for this gameeeeeeeee!

It's always unreasonable to assume that anything will be more successful than WoW. Besides, it's not like this is the first Star Wars MMO. :\

and the sad part is that galaxies was (and still is) much more entertaining then WoW ever was rofl. at least for me

eh, the same people who are surprised that WOW is still the most popular MMO out there are the same people who are surprised that The Sims is the best selling PC franchise in history. Coincidently, I've always felt the reason WoW did so well is because it caters to the interest of the same market that likes The Sims. or maybe, I've never liked The Sims or Wow, so I put them together? I can do that, right?

tl;dnr: WoW = The Sims.

I completely agree, even though I'm biased b/c SWG was my first real investment in an MMO. Launch - End of CU was and still remains the best MMO experience I've ever had.

WoW did well because it already had a rabid warcraft fanbase thanks to the RTS games. Couple that with a very smooth and immersible gameplay experience and a ton of lore behind it. Blizzard merely expanded the fanbase by entering a game, that was easy to learn how to play, into a genre whose community was multiplying exponentially.

Love it or hate it, Blizzard played it's cards right and had the game and loyal fanbase to back it up.

So a friend of mine just sent me a text stating how he got a beta invite. I am now not friends with him anymore.

*runs away crying*

If it makes you feel better, and if it was anything like my TOR beta experience, he'll be testing only for a few days. :\

The digital distribution wars just got personal for EA: they?ve pulled Crysis 2 from the Steam store. It?s now available on the company?s Origin service, labeled as an exclusive offering.

Despite this, as of writing, the title is still available on Direct2Drive, Impulse, and GamersGate. However, it?s possible that EA is still in the process of cutting ties with other services.

While the jury is still out on whether this exclusivity will apply to all of EA?s digital offerings going forward, it?s a likely bet, as BioWare recently confirmed that its upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic will be an Origin exclusive. Moreover, today?s release of Alice: Madness Returns is nowhere to be found on Steam.

W T F.............

SOOOOO STUPID! Put it on Steam! RAGE AT EA!

Because of the loyal fan base to star wars I think that TOR is going be a very popular game. Especially with how much effort they are putting into it.

EA Origin exclusive :(:(:(

The loyal fan base to Star Wars only guarantees that it will sell. Keeping subs up in the coming months post-launch will be all up to Bioware. But as it's been said before, it's not like this is the first Star Wars MMO ever.

I'm still skeptical in their ability to translate their success from SP games over to the massively multiplayer platform; but those reservations are mostly based off the type of game it's going to be and the very limited amount of time I got to play it.

What I'm mostly concerned about when it comes to TOR is the endgame experience. I've heard about and seen some of the flashpoint content and read about world PvP and PvP battlegrounds; but other than that, it seems like re-rolling is the way to go as far as Bioware is concerned. That could be a big problem for a large amount of people that don't bother to play anymore than one main character. This is one place where they could lose a lot of subscriptions if they rely too heavily on wanting people to re-roll alts to access the different class storylines.

I've already made my peace with space in TOR and although I'm very disappointed with the path they've taken, I'll just learn to accept it and not worry about it.

The game will probably be very good, it'll have it's flaws just like SWG did and I know there will be something in it that I'll enjoy. But, I have serious doubts about whether or not Bioware can keep me interested in The Old Republic for a long period of time.

This. In all honesty, from what i've seen so far..... This MMO is all about story NOT combat. They keep saying the combat is reformed and all but it looks just like the old combat system in any old MMO. Talking about COMBAT........ Guild Wars 2 looks like it's gonna be THE MMO to break through that old crappy combat system and bring something new to the table. Time will tell i guess..

I for one, will buy the game because i have NOT played Starwars Galaxies but i am a fan of starwars none the less and have enjoyed the Kotor series so far! :)
