Those Lulzsec turds are still out hackin Brink and Bethesda and Bioware and releasing passwords and emails that correspond to them. I would advise everyone to change passwords asap.

Search the list of emails that has been released. If yours is there, panic.

A few password tips:
  • Never use the same passwords for multiple sites.
  • Change your passwords monthly.
  • Never use easy to guess passwords.
  • Don't write your passwords down on a piece of paper and stick it next to your monitor.
  • Use an old fashioned random password generator: a book. Pick a book, flip to a page, choose a sentence, and use the first letter of each word of that sentence as your password. Throw a number or two in there. Don't write down your passwords, just write down the page number. And don't make them all from the same book.

Small warning: every site you create a profile on (from Facebook to some mom&pop trinket site) sees your unencrypted info. That means somewhere at that company someone sees it. It could be anyone. They could hire some 'screw this job sucks' college kid for the summer to do some basic database reconciliation. The interviewer decided he liked the kid, so now someone has total access to you & everyone else's personal info: email, login credentials including password, address, and whatever else info you give them. Your info is only as safe as the people working there. That's why it's always a good idea to change your info on a regular basis and never use the same or even similar login credentials for multiple sites.

I've had access to databases before. It's fun to play with them and see how many idiots there are. Do you know how many people use abc123 as there password? Or some variation of godisgood, jesusissavior. My favorite was the time I was helping a company with some Crystal scripts, and had the company president looking over my sholder while I did it. We got to chatting, he asked about passwords and if I thought his companies securitiy policies were ok, and I sort the password colum to show how many poeple use the same/similar passowrds. Well, he sees how many people use passowords like 'thisjobsucks' 'ihatemyjob' etc.... He asked for a list of those people, I said sure and made a report for him. Next day, every one of those people were fired. So yeah, don't do that.

Makes me wonder if that site is really trying to help people or just a tricky way to get people to enter in their legit email addresses. Guess if I start seeing more spam, I'll know..

There not really trying to help people. They say their looking for security exploits in order to strengthen the sites and company as a whole. And yet they don't share any info on how they breached the security. They don't do it for the lulz they do it for the attention. I don't like people like that.
