Question: Currently there are rumours on what the forthcoming update will contain; some believe the game is being ported to the ‘orange box’ engine, some believe the ‘cone of fire’ will be made centre weighted while others believe that all we should expect are some map and game bug/exploit fixes.

Can the development team confirm or deny any of these rumours? Can you possibly shed some light on what the community can hope to expect from this update and what is planned for any future updates?

Quote:
It will be on the orange box engine, it will contain cone of fire tweaks, leaning eye point fix and a few other improvements.

Question: Would the development team consider adding more maps in the future? Either brand new maps or making popular custom maps official?
(Such as the CAMP map packs or competitive favourites such as Harrington, Lennon, Salerno, Coire etc)

Quote:
We're working with the maker of Salerno to include an improved version of that map in the next release, and we're in close contact with the CAMP guys to get exposure to those maps as well.

Question: Can you give the month in 2008 when we should ‘hope’ to see the update?

Quote:
I would guess March, but as always consult valve time
( http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time )

Question: Would you consider allowing players to disable the ‘victory/defeat music’?

Quote:
This would be easy to add, I'll put it on the wish list.

Question: Sv_pure was an excellent and a very welcome addition, competitively we use sv_pure 2 which blocks custom crosshairs.

Would you be willing to include more crosshairs?
(such as a dot . or +)

Quote:
I'll look into custom crosshairs. We'd have to add user interface to switch between crosshair files, but I'll see what we can do.

Question: Any updates to melee, in particular the registration? It’s a bit ‘hit and miss’

Quote:
Melee hits I'll check. They may benefit from some tech we did for TF2.

Question: Are their any planned changes to the ‘shock effect’?

Quote:
No plans to change the shock effect.

Question: Are there any achievements; such as those in TF2 planned?

Quote:
We have a full set of dod achievements that will come out in this patch, as well as other steam community features to bring dod:s inline with tf2.

new weapons?!
that would be a tad weird to have and i dont think that it would be good for the game lol. Hopfully this will bring in new gamers!

You said you don't wear any! Anyways, seems like an awesome update, and it'll even come out next month, oh boy!

ditto to that, this is the most exciting gaming news I've heard in a long while

The update seems ok, but it better not be a huge download time on my rubbish pc!!!
I was hoping for new weapons tho :(
but all the same it will be exiting having something slightly new to play on :D

Overall, looks good. I am a bit surprised they are not adding another weapon or two. Oh, and achievements..... lets just add another way to make the game more addictive...as if I needed that!

I hope they fix the half shot deal.

Ex. You are axis riflemen, you fire a shot, get killed, shot stops midway through firing.

That needs to be fixed.
