Any1 using AMD Phenom quads w/ DoD:S?

I'm looking to get a new rig since I'm still on my 3.0Ghz Pentium D and it has never played DoD:S well....like only 30-45fps :(

Anyhow, so far I've found these two rigs, one has the new'ish AMD quad core chip and the other has the Intel quad....both are overclocked.

So I'm wondering if anyone has the Phenom chip with an 8800GT or 8800GTS video card, and how many fps you are getting. I'm shooting for 100fps.

Rig 1.....AMD:

In case it matters, I intend to run Vista Home Premium. My pal Cole is running a similar Intel setup and is constantly getting around 100-100+fps.

I heard good things about the AMD Phenom. You can go wrong with either setup. I'm running XP right now, I'm hearing some negative things regarding Vista and some of the newer games.

XP won't recognize all 4GB of RAM :( (one advantage of Vista over XP)

Regularly upwards of 100fps+ (although flash I get around 70-80fps for some reason)

Actually that is not really an accurate considering the server was empty or nearly empty when I took it on the Kettle server.

However, I do get around 100-110fps normally.
 
i roll hard with my 30 fps average

im planning on getting me new rig sometime this yr i might seek you guys guidance for this

170 is absolutely no better than 85. Your FPS shouldn't really be higher than your refresh rate which most are between 60-85. Any FPS above your refresh rate is a waste and I haven't seen it but I've heard it can actually distort your picture some.
 
i would go for the 9600gt instead of the 8800 the 9600gt you can get at best buy for 230 its alot cheaper and alot better i went from a 7900gs oc to a 9600gt oc and i get about 2 to three times for fps in all the games on high setting

my setup is
intel core 2 duo e6600
2 gigs of ram
250 gig interal hd
500 gig external hd
nvidia 9600gt oc
create x-fi xtrememusic

you can get all that for cheap now and you will have a amazing build and be able to play any game on high settings

True...if the refresh of your monitor is set at 75Hz, your monitor/Graphics card simply wont display the extra frames (especially with vertical synch adjusted as such).

However, I can think of several instances when your frame rate can be dragged down, whether it's the server config, location, number of players and/or the particular map you're playing. It's these instances where it pays to have a graphics card that can generate high frames.
 
comin from a guy that was 40 for 30 last night on hobo......whateva~~!!!!

The GeForce 8800GTS 320MB XXX Edition can push out more frames then the 9600GT 512MB, but it all depends I suppose on what you're really planning on using the computer for. The more cost efficient Graphics card is the 9600GT but if you're going for power I'd rather spend the cash for an 8800GT 512MB (Somehow it out performs the 8800GTX but it doesn't at the same time, sadly NVidia is making less and less sense) the 9600GT only uses 95 Watts of power amazing I know and for around $180 and for about an extra $20 I guess you could get the more efficient GeForce 8800GT 512MB
 
Well I decided to buy the below rig today....can't wait for it to arrive and enjoy the 100fps goodness.........it's been a loooong wait!

I'm sticking with XP Pro since i have alot of software that I still want to use and I wasn't sure if it would run on Vista.

I average about 35-40... WITH a 8800gts.

3800 X2.

When I had my 6600gt, my fps was HIGHER than with the 8800gts......... figure that one out.
