Opening 40 crates?

Keys are like gamboling, you can win big, or you can lose it all. I unboxed my unusual, and love it; I know of others that have spent a lot more than I did and came up with nothing.

Others, however...::sigh:: this kid opened 1 crate with his Stocking Stuffer key, unboxed this Burning Team Captain, and sold it for $1,500:

I may have just lost all hope for humanity. Who the hell would pay that much for a TF2 hat? I wouldn't, even if I made 100x as much a year as I do.

I can understand a few dollars here and there to open a crate, but spending 100+ dollars that could be spent on other things is crazy. Just sayin.

- Honestly, I don't think 100$ is too insane considering other big TF2 maniacs. Some TF2 figures are 250$, and people have spent 1K+ on opening crates. Still, I see what your point is. But I prefer having fun and possibly win big OR lose it all.

Both options are pretty insane. I'd rather buy 100 items in a dollar store or something more fun. Pre-order a game, buy some clothes, buy a cheap bike to make bad stunt videos and put them on Youtube.

- I completely understand what your point is. I was going to pre-order MW3 and BF3 but I barely play my PS3. I play my computer much more so I rather have more fun in something I like.

- Man, I cannot agree with you more about this. I know some TF2 traders who spent at least a grand on opening crates and got 000000 unusuals. I know some people who got 8-9 unusuals within their first 40 or 50 crates. It's all down on your luck. I've always "gambled" in other games and I usually lose most of the time. Might as well try this one.

Imma still think about whether to open or play safe. Right now, I'm leaning more on safe side. For those of you who are saying "Pixels pixels..." I completely understand your point, but this game allows me to have fun. Not only that, but if I do manage to get something good, I can make a profit. If not, I won't lose it all, I would still be able to sell some crappy items I get from the crate and get 40-50% back.

Edit: I watched like 10 videos of people unboxing 50,60,70,80 crates and most of them didn't get an unusual. I'm SCARED! D: *run away*
I think I'm better off opening 2 or 3 crates here and there but I rather not spend all 100$. Probably gon play it safe.

The record for an unusual was $2000-worth of 18 other unusuals for a burning kabuto.

I also recall a selfmade-Lugermorph going for $1000+ on eBay.

In my opinion, that money is best spent else where. You can get an unusual easy and with a lot less cost than $100, start slow and take your time...when dealing with unusuals you have to be patient, not everyone is gonna want the one you have.

I've opened 690+ keys/crates since trading came out, not kidding.

Two unusuals, and they were both less than great.

Buying them off players is a safe bet, because when you get bored, you CAN resell them and get some if not all your money back (I buy them)

It may seem like opening a bunch of crates at a time may bag you an unusual, but you have to remember the odds of unboxing an unusual (less than 1%).

The gambler in me says take chances, get messy.

The sane side in me says that you should spend 50 bucks on keys, then if you fail to unbox anything good you take the other 50 bucks and buy another game. That way its not a total loss of money.

How I see this is;

You want to spend the money and you want to spend them on Team Fortress two because that is where you find the most fun.

Then I suggest you do the crates as that can be a lot of fun and get your adrenaline pumping

Max heads are low in value now. It's different than what they used to go for.

They can still get you an unusual, like a confetti or peace sign.
